From the video I can tell that 3rd gen and 1st gen owners start with at least 20% more butthurt.

I feel as the the first gens are just happy to be part of the party. I dont think any of them are butthurt.

3rd Gen tows more and is a truck so that makes sense. If short bursts off the line matter to you, buy something else? A car maybe? Self esteem? :boink:
When I get one, I will look for an aftermarket SC. All gens are underpowered IMO so it doesn't matter to me either way.
Overall, I love the truck and the tech... no complaints here for the most part.

This. Here it is, copied it right off of the TFLtruck site.

"The number shown for the 2nd gen. truck (4.397 gallons) was after the first click of the fuel pump. Afterwards, Andre waited 30 seconds for the gas to settle in the system before topping it off again. The total amount of fuel that went into the 2nd gen. was actually closer to 4.728 gallons."

You should also post the part where they confirm a bunch of times that the 2016 transmission is in ECT mode. Just so we dont have to hear about that part.

So it would have been slower during the drag race. I guess the 1st gen would have beat it if it was not in ECT.

I'm still trying to race my buddies 2nd gen 12' haha, he refuses after being beat by 08 honda pilot 3 years back.

The butt dyno says the 3rd gen is faster but I'd like to see.

I also have co-workers with 1st and 2nd gens that may line up with me.

Again, no one really cares if the truck is fast, its not why I bought it, but its still fun.

It should be a 2004 DC 4x4 in there.

Possibly a 2015 4runner to embarrass the whole lot?

Yesssirreee. I bought the truck so that I can haul stuff particularly during spring and fall clean-up with ease. I don't really care if the other trucks with the same or different makes/brands are faster than what I have!

You def have the right idea, but there are some members on here causing trouble because they do actually care and someone always gets upset with any results that get posted. 2nd and 3rd gen alike.

Call me a troll but sometimes I like to poke a little fun at people who take their truck too seriously. Its a material good, a possession. Hundreds more important things in life to identify with than a truck....unless your life is pretty empty already.

^Most Tacoma owners are pretty humble people, just like 4runner owners.

Agreed, but since this is an enthousiasts forum, it tends to attract the more well, enthousiastic members. Most tacoma drivers (around my area) are actually 55-60 years old and couldnt gove a shit about a forum.

After test driving a gen 3 for 3 full hours I decided to by a gen 2. I found the tranny in the gen 3 to be very shifty and the engine has no balls at the bottom. I say the gen 2 is better at 0 to 50 and the gen 3 is better at 50 to 100. I don't drive much faster than 60 so...

Very interesting video. It's really sad that the 3rd gen is slower than the 2nd gen.

Not so sad for me though knowing I could beat a 3rd gen in a race :burnrubber:

Steadfast, they say the 3rd gen auto tranny learns your shifting up to 5000 miles. Try the manual. Maybe that explains your experience. Plus, the 3rd gen motor is used in lexus, which gets over 300hp if you really want to compare speed and power. Just tuned differently. But a mid-sized truck is not meant to drag race.

The manual may improve the driver's experience, but it wont make it any quicker.

Also saying a midsized truck is not mean to drag race is a bit misleading. In fact if you think about it what vehicles really are? NONE but people still do it. In fact I would wager to say a truck has a lot more mechanically common with an actual drag racing machine then say a WRX or an M3.

Also bringing up the Lexus tuned version makes no sense in the comparison.
