What lift did you do in the rear? Softer ride coils or firm? How does she ride? Just curious is all

medium duty dakar leaf pack with 90021 soft ride struts. rides great and much softer than my 2nd gen with 3 leaf AAL in the rear.

Sorry about that meant struts! Thanks was thinking 3 aal, will go with whole new pack now seems to be the consensus that it is way better then just an aal! Super cool....Love the truck!

3 leaf AAL is cost effective for sure but it was harder to install and created too much stiffness in the rear. since OME has revamped their dakar pack the ride is much improved and i'm extremely happy with it. thanks man!!

I really appreciate your insight! Im just going to stop "hemmin' & hawin" and just pull the damn trigger already! Once last question if I may about your choice to go with OME vs Bilstein? I have ran bilsteins in the past...were there specific reasons to go with OME shocks besides the packs being from OME?

I know the feeling, I spent months researching before lifting my 2nd gen... then when it came to my 3rd gen I knew immediately what I wanted.

I went with OME because I’ve read it’s a little more capable off road. This was from posts on tacomaworld... there’s a really good post title OME vs 5100 and everyone dives deep on the differences.

That being said, you can’t go wrong with either setup and you’ll be happy with both. Set your budget and buy within that budget. Do the install yourself, save $1,000! There’s a ton of DIY garages all over if you look for them with stocked toolboxes, air tools, lifts, etc. if that isn’t the case in your area, a simple post on here “need help” and you’ll have a few members at your house with tools. Buy some beer and pizza and 6-8 hours later your truck is lifted!

thanks man, happy to help! i'm not very handy either, but I know how to loosen and tighten a bolt and follow directions. wrenching on vehicles is pretty straightforward when it comes to suspension. watch these two videos below, this will show you a front install and a rear install. I referenced these videos when doing my install numerous times and it really helped. having the right tools also helps and is actually usually the most important.

EDIT: when you order your lift make sure you order your fronts pre assembled. it's worth every penny to avoid the headache of renting a spring compressor or taking to a shop and finding a press.

Great truck, man! Obviously bias as we have same color truck, trim, and SR8s :)

search RRW sliders. They’re $600 right now and look fantastic. They’re running their sale for another week or so!

AWESOME! I've watched these vids over and over and feel that your advice is the way to go! I am almost sure I could do this with a little assistance! I emailed Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road a bit ago and she is ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR! I going to go with the 6112/5160 with 3-aal to start, really just so I can go off actual experience with this set-up then in a year two if I dont like it maybe upgrade to Fox or King. I drove around a couple taco's with both new OME lift and bilstein 6112/5160 combo and both the OME pack & 3-aal set up in the rear. I have to agree with you the new leaf packs felt better the the 3-aal set-up. Due to all the variances between individual taco's I'm going to start with 3-aal which I think will work for my needs and if I need more upgrade from there. They both felt great to me and I am sure either lift would put a smile on this face! Thanks again bro! You are a good man @SquattiePippen!

Marie @ headstrong is awesome! I purchased my first lift from headstrong, can't go wrong with their customer service! stoked for you bro, truck is going to look awesome! you'll love the setup you're going with... this lift will certainly be a gateway drug into a fox, king, or maybe even BP-51 setup a few years down the road!
