I'd like to see a video about getting messaging to work with an iphone using the P&T package. I know I can't reply to texts with an iphone (unless I use Siri hand free), but my incoming texts aren't working. Every time I set up messaging it works fine, until I turn off the truck and walk away. Next time I get in the truck I have to set up messaging all over again. I've duplicated this at two different dealerships and they just scratch their heads.

In terms of drumming up some sales for your dealership:
Do a few vids Re: the low prices/value of the 4cly 4x4 tacoma models, utility package included, and a full "tour" of the truck. Not too many people know about them...
I bet an large advert in the local paper to the effect of "$25-26k OTD for a new 4x4 tacoma." should get a few orders in, or at very least increased customer traffic.

I've noticed that the truck performs much better 70mph and below and the engine and transmission work much harder and shift more at higher highway speeds. I commute 50 miles on I-95 and found to have better performance around 65 mph range.

Get in truck start it and turn your Bluetooth off then on again (from phone). Everything works fine after thatbut you do have to do it every time you start the truck. As far as SENDING texts that is an iPhone issue as far as I can tell. At least those with data plans can use Siri. I don't have data so Siri won't work without data or wifi connection. If I really need to communicate I can call.

I had and still have some shifting issues. Honestly, being somewhere flat that lacks actual hills and mountains, you'll almost never notice. When at the beach where it's flat, it rides like a dream.

Back at home where it's hilly or on trips to the Poconos, it struggles to maintain speed. The street I live on is all uphill/downhill and curvy. There's this one hill on it where I will go from 40 mph to 25 with what should be enough pressure on the gas pedal to maintain speed or so you would think. It wouldn't downshift until I darn near put it to the floor. It will upshift again, too quickly, only to lose speed again. Finally downshifts again.

Had both TSBs done now. The first did almost nothing except address the 4th gear lock up with CC on. The second has clearly changed the first two shift points to a higher rpm, just over 2k, making it feel peppy. There is still some gear searching but nowhere near the level of wanting to park it with the key fob in it and say sayanora Taco, hello insurance check...which I was pretty close to doing. Especially with full reimbursement in the first year from the insurance company making this both a viable and tantalizing option.

The problem is that this truck is engineered for high end torque. Lacking the low end torque, it will always search gears in certain situations like hilly/mountainous areas to some degree. TSB Rev 1 took me from almost hating this truck to: "I really, really like you but I don't love you. We can stay together for the kids and because neither of us have anything better going on."

Love the looks of this Taco in and out. I'd be willing to bet the house that Toyota adds a new engine for Pro and/ Off Road models in '19. You can never make a change in the first three years...it's admitting you're wrong.

You can. Honda did on the 2012 Civic. It got such bad reviews for being too boring and plain that they redesigned it inside and out for 2013.
But you describe the the way this transmission acts perfectly. My usual drive to work is 80km/h roads with not too much stop and go, but I went down to Toronto today and the entire time all I can focus on is the damn transmission shifting up to early or concentrating on maintaining speed while it jumps around threw the gears. I just can't enjoy the drive in this truck. And I have the first TSB done, but not the REv 1 yet.

Take the time and get Rev 1. It's a lot better. Not perfect but better.

And since we Americans think all Canadians love hockey: GO FLYERS!!!

The Civic was the first thing that came to my mind too, they really messed it up to change it a year later.

It was still a good car, but it was just way to boring. But they took the hit and did a one year remodel which is unheard of and it shows they cared what the customers thought. Even tho it was lame, they didn't have a dip in sales and they could have just left it.
There is no shame in admitting you screwed up, as long as you make it right.
If Toyota came to us and said they could make our trucks drive normally, no tranny BS, but we would take a hit with the MPG, I would sign an agreement.

Great video! And timely posting of it as well. It's great to see a professional car salesman that knows about and enjoys the cars they sell. I'd buy a car from you if I lived in the area.

When I bought my SR5 back in late November, the finance guy bragged about driving a Mercedes. I was kind of put off by this. Made me wonder what my initial sales guy drives.

I like the fact that you are knowledgeable about the products you sell and eager to go to great lengths to adress questions, problems and concerns that people have. We don't have that level of service and professionalism in the area I live.

    Awesome video.

Make sure it is set to "show notifications" in your b/t settings if you want messaging to MOSTLY work. Here is a video I made on in for a Tundra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiCKzn-ZUro

I do customer video's where I will go over pricing on the one they want and put together some special deals, but most of our advertising is online, and Toyota is SUPER strict about advertising pricing. If I do it wrong the dealership would get punished (lower allocations, less kickbacks). I'm all about increasing traffic, but I send most of these video's to customers interested to show them who I am and build value in myself. I'm all about just giving out some knowledge and not asking for anything in return.

If I had one of those truck's I definitely would! I don't think we have ever even had one on the lot that wasn't special ordered for a client. I will keep my eyes open for one if it comes along though

What about the viscosity of oil from cold to hot? Maybe the truck is also programmed indirectly to stay out of 6th to warm the engine up faster... Another thread someone claimed that leveling kit actually causes 3-4 flare.
