Great info! my truck passed that test. The strange feeling is when the trucks running if u press and hold on the pedal it eventually goes so far down almost to floor. Is that normal?

Although when driving brakes feel fine and snappy.

    No.

    Causes could be:
    -fluid leak
    -air in system
    -rear shoe clearance
    -bad master cylinder
    -push rod adjustment

How'd you adjust shoe clearance after your re-gear?
Ever run the fluid out of the reservoir?
Did you bleed the master cylinder or just straight to air bleed on Techstream?

never ran master cylinder out of fluid, no fluid leaks, When i re-geared i pulled two rear brake lines and pulled axles, never had to take apart breaks at all hence having to bleed the brakes. Had the lines capped for about 4 days and nights until I was able to re assemble. they were leaking very very slightly even with caps. I bled brakes first with the old school two person method. Then today, it has been about 3 months later performed the TS method. I just did the ABS bleed, it had me do all 4 tires and i heard it actuating the module. I just Noticed the above how with the truck on, if you depress the pedal and hold, after about 20 seconds it very slowly pushes down, not to the floor but about 3/4 of the way.

Truck has about 8k miles on it, and about 3k since i took it apart for the re gear.

    Operation check(Step 2)?
Sounds like your booster is not airtight?

Maybe check the check valve in the booster?

Here's a video i just shot, this is it with the Truck on.

    https://youtu.be/c509L0dHVLs

just re checked the air tight test. It seems to check out. Maybe I’m just thinking It was near the floor but watching the video back it still has a lot of travel left to the floor.

:help: I'm getting my Gen2 DCLB OR back today from the body shop after accident repairs. The incident happened (almost a month ago:rant:) as a result of several unsuccessful brake bleeds. Regardless, the insurance would not cover the repairs to the brake system because they said it was a "preexisting condition". Which leaves me with a nice shiny Taco that still has brake problems... Any advice for attempting to bleed the system in the body shop parking lot?? I'll arrange a tow to the dealership if necessary, but I was really hoping to avoid that. I'm not looking for perfection at this point, just enough to get me home or to the dealership.
    Thanks in advance fellas!

For a "just getting home" bleed you should be able to do it normally. Then get the ABS to actuate right after. I will say that I drove my truck like this for a while, but definitely don't recommend it because it's very dangerous and you could make the Tacoma be the next Mustang.

Thanks for the input! Update: I was able to get it to a shop and they're doing a "power bleed". Waiting for them to finish up now. Hopefully it'll stop again when I get it back...

Agree 100%. Did the stoptech front and rear rotor calipers. Had the shop bleed the brakes the traditional way and it’s enough to get home but downright dangerous. Will be taking it to the dealer today. It just sucks that this is what is required to get it done properly.
