The 2GR-FKS is the first of the long running GR series engine to have a plastic bypass. All other versions of the engine utilize a proper aluminum piece.

They have a new Tacoma coming out, so chances are they won't create a permanent fix. Add this to list of issues they have ignored since 2016.

It's rather obvious then toyota hasn't had the number of problems with this if they have done nothing to correct it. I thought they came out with an updated part number after 2018 for this pipe.

You never know until you try, They did a recall on a simple rear differiental leak, Theres alot of power in numbers the more complaints the better, They also give you a follow up number to keep track on.

I have a 2017, They may have corrected the issue by 2018, You can also look up recalls on the NHSTA website

    Not really simple.
Differential leak is a safety issue as it can lock up if fluid leaks out.
    Big difference.

Is it a big differance? Given the right cercumstances an engine can sieze up if coolant is lost?

Yea but your dash will light up like an xmass tree before it gets to the seize point. Diff could lock up without any sort of warning.

True, But because of the number of owners complaining to Toyota and NHSTA about rust they also did a recall on Frame corrosion from date of first use with no mileage limitations for 2011 thru 2017.
I would think the coolant leak and bad design of using plastic would be a more important issue than frame corrosion.

Sorry to see that! Its all labor and its too bad because i think most of us would have replaced it ourselves but the location of it is what stopped me so i had to shell out the money too.

I thought people were taking the plenum and intake manifold off to get to this pipe from the top? Is it easier to just drop the trans?

I have never spent that kind of money on car repairs, specially on labor.

Finally I got a legit cause to justify a Quick Jack 7000TLX portable lift. Originally I was eying for MaxJax since my garage ceiling height is 11'3", but their prices have jumped the shark.
