3rd Generation Coolant bypass leak

Talked to 3 different people at Toyota corporate in the last couple weeks. Nope, this is not covered under the 5/60 or 7/100CPO powertrain warranty.

 

You are correct. I remembered when I had my 2006 Lexus IS250 with the melting dash. Toyota issued a TSB many years after warranty expired.

It was just repaired under warranty for me

 

Sorry to hear that! Did you ask if they knew how common the problem is with 2016 and up models? Will you make a complaint to the NHTSA?

 

Can anyone confirm if the aluminum version on the 2gr-fe fits?

 

I put a small spring hose clamp and it seems to help...

 

They "understood" my concerns, but they couldn't provide any information on how many vehicles had the same issues.

Yes, I have filed a incident report to the NHTSA.

I am contemplating on doing the repairs myself, also looking into upgrading the clutch at the same time since 95% of the work is R&R of the transmission.

It dosent look like you lowered the engine? How did you get to it?

 

NHTSA doesn't care at all.They take the envelope from the manufacturer.Ford Focus DCT has killed people.No help from anyone.

 

Removed the transmission.
Also I'm replacing the throwout bearing while I'm there.

2019 TRDOR 45k miles, bought in 2021 @21k miles as Toyota CPO. Original coolant.

 

Damn 2019 and only 45k.
