I can think of a few other times mine kinda lurched forward and your right it wasn't the a/c, thought it was a little strange but haven't really gave it much thought. Don't worry though. It'll grow on you and you'll love it. I was a die hard ford fan before I got my 14 trd sport, had my doubts for awhile and then I fell in love. The truck took everything I threw at it. Now having the 17, kinda had my doubts and thought I was gonna regret trading but that's over and I'm more than pleased with the new one. It's like I sent my 14 in and got it back with alot of extras.

How long did it take everyone to realize that the third gen moved the stereo antenna to the shark fin satelite antenna? That's a plus. No worries about old school antenna snagging branches. Didn't realize it for almost a month.

It was one of the first things I noticed about the truck when I was looking to buy one...wish the raptor did this...

I love almost everything about this truck, the auto climate, heated seats, push button start (wish it was remote), and it looks awesome. I have a 16 DCLB TRD Sport AT BTW.
But...this drivetrain..actually not the physical drivetrain but the computers controlling it. My truck has been in to the dealer a few times concerning the funky shifting, and has gotten all the updates, dealt with corporate, opened cases, etc. and still has multiple personality disorder.
I want to love this truck, but it feels like it has 10 different programs in the computers, 4 of 10 let the truck shift and drive normal, and the other 6 are just a shit show of gear hunting chaos. I have no idea how these programs are chosen, I just start it up in the morning and its either going to be driving great or jsut fucked.
I've been following the OVTune thread very closely and from everything Mat has been saying and showing is that this trucks ECU and TCU tuning from factory were just slapped together and not completed. There is a lot of crap in that thread but if you filter it to find Mats posts its a pretty interesting read.
Anyways, I'm talking to a few Ford dealers at the moment just to gauge what this truck is worth on a trade, and the numbers are pretty disappointing. Like I said I want to love this truck, and I want to keep it, but these issues are not small. This is my first and last Toyota no matter what happens.

I just slap my auto into 6th gear regardless of where I am driving. Accelerates pretty slow, but returns 20mpg in town. Even on the trip over some mountain passes, it never hunted for gears. Maybe I finally got lucky on something with this truck!

2017 TRD OFF ROAD, short bed, 3.5, automatic. guess Toyota engineers know what their doing but I think the 4 liter is a much better engine with more torque. Tranny issues seem to be common especially the constant "trying to find the right gear." Other than that, I very pleased with the package.

Note: this took some digging, but I have confirmed member "69others" works for Toyota's marketing department.
