Nothing built by man is perfect. Believe me I've tried. Toyota tries. NASA tries. The anvil manufacturer tries. I was watching "How It's Made" a few nights ago and they had how toothpicks are made. Yes there were mistakes in toothpicks. Bottom line is the Tacoma is just as good and maybe a bit better than the competition in my opinion.

I can accept all its flaws except for the "normal" rear diff howling. Pisses me off.

honestly, I was looking for F150 or Chevy..... why taco is my fist truck?

ha... trust me, I googled it ~~~~ "" best off road truck 2017 ""

I was thinking "give a try", and now "I love it". just came back from 800km (500 mile) trip,

use ECT all the time, easily accelerate to 160km/hr (100mph), so happy in the trip.

taco is the best looking truck, IMO.

I've had two first gens and two third gens. I had more issues with my first gens than either of my new trucks. I know that's a rare thing, but both had rusted frames and suspension components.

It's weird. When I buy a truck, I expect a truck. Rougher ride. Sub par speakers. A little more wind noise. I've got ZERO complaints about my new 2017 TRD Off Road. It would seem the people that have a lot of complaints are either expecting a luxury SUV type ride in a truck or got a lemon (which genuinely sucks and I feel for them). However, mine have been great.

Like everything in life, it's all about expectations. You can find a ton of people complaining about the sound system and the wind noise. Come on guys. Get real. It's a truck.

The thing about KBB is you can never go by excellent or very good trade in values since the industry standard is good/fair condition.
Fair KBB trade value is likely going to be a dealership first offer regardless of the type of vehicle. A dealership is a business that wants to make a killing off of your trade.
If you can get an excellent deal on the new vehicle with strong incentives and rebates it might be worth accepting the low ball trade in offer.

Thanks for all the input. I've been debating an upgrade from my current PreRunner to a 17 4x4 DSCB-OR. Sharing your experiences is greatly appreciated.

Mine has that too and I hate it, but otherwise it's a fantastic truck.

Some guys have complained about a lack of power, and I simply DON'T see that in mine. Maybe it's guys with bigger tires or something, but I have no problem whatsoever getting right on down the road!

So, truck has a bad diff and your still driving it? They didn't offer you a loaner? And you discuss this as being your only issue, and you now are one the same level as Smitty? His truck should be recalled based on the number of issues he has expressed. But hey every thing in this world should be perfect, and if it's not then must be complete junk?o_O

How many years old were the 1st Gens when the Frames rusted thru, did Toyota give you a loaner and replace the Frames?

The 2003 had the frame replaced. The 2002 didn't qualify and wasn't nearly as bad at the 2003.

The 2003s frame was done back in 2010. The unfortunate part was that the new frame didn't look too bad, but everything else was rusted to shit. The entire rear axle housing had to be replaced because it was rusted through. The UCAs and the LCAs were entirely rusted. Everything would break when you tried to remove it. The whole thing just had a lot of rust.

That was exactly my intention. I can not believe the amount of people complaining about the dumbest stuff on here. You would think this was a Prius forum.

Everyone is apparently entitled to a truck that drives like a car, accelerates like a sports car, has the sound system of a luxury SUV, rides like it's on a cloud, and runs on love because apparently 22mpg is no longer sufficient for a TRUCK.

what can you say about a butterfly ?
Seems like we have a few of the very delicate things that always fly into the 3rd gen discussion to try to spread there sad sad stories of whoa .
Poor butterflies should have bought a Kia.
Lmao !!! I could not have said it quite as kindly as you. Nice job ! There are delicate butterflies everywhere you turn.

I thoroughly enjoy my truck. I just wish I would have been able to afford a TRDORP. I need to do a bunch of mods to my taco before I am totally happy with it. (Even though it is just an i4 4x2)

MOD AWAY :) I think I really like the mod's as much as the truck. While I enjoy my mod's making my Taco more capable for my style of off-roading and other outdoor activities it's a huge plus when they make it look great too.

I know right? I just feel getting some better wheels and tires could do so much to the aesthetic. I am also looking at leveling it and getting better lights.
