All my Toyota trucks have had issues one time or another, this has been the favorite so far.

No regrets after almost 2 years of daily driving and 22k miles.

My first 3 Tacomas had next to nothing as far as issues, hoping current #4 will be the same!

As the "issues" slowly are dealt with and resolved. This is a damn great Truck! I will go back to a 4x4 in 2020 should be refined by then...

I bought my new Taco in April of 16. Out of those days it has been at the dealer for a combined 86 days and I still need to take it in for the sensor recall! All the Brit bikes I owned back in the day, did not keep me out of action that many days. And I wish it was just me, but there are owners who are over 100 days for the stupid rear end gaskets! I offered to trade mine straight across for my neighbors 1983 4X4, he said no way he wanted my Lemon.

Absolutely love my 3rd gen and it's taken me everywhere I wanted to go that required a good 4x4.

Are there things that would make it better? Yes but the same could be said for damn near every car out there, so I say just shut up and drive.

Love mine. Easily pulls my jet skis and gets great mpg's on my commute. Best all around vehicle I've purchased.

I'm thoroughly enjoying mine. I've had it for 5 months now and the only thing I would change is the head unit/stereo. I want Android Auto. I even like the stock tires which has never happened before.

Take this for what it's worth - I've owned the Taco since Oct 2015 and still have less than 7k.

The transmission and constantly hunting for the right gear was annoying. Most of my driving (what little there has been thus far) is in the city and normally with fairly heavy traffic. I also experienced a long delay when shifting from reverse to drive. Then... I had the CPS recall done and at the same time the TSB for the ECM. So far (a few weeks and a few hundred miles) shifting is better/smoother, more low-end grunt, a whole lot less hunting for gears. Took it out on the freeway the other night to see how the cruise-control worked after the CPS/TSB work and it seemed fine. Only time will tell whether this combination of fixes is a permanent fix.

My Taco was on both recall lists. I was leery of the rear diff recall with all the horror stories of stealerships holding trucks for 100+ days awaiting parts it seemed Toyota wasn't making enough of or fast enough. My parts have been on order since my 20k service on 8/19, but they didn't hold my truck.

Am I satisfied? Yes. Do I have regrets? Not really. I've always wanted a 4x4, but the 4x2 does what I need it to do which is hauling stuff from Home Depot that never seemed to fit in the trunk of a car.

I think a lot of you have no idea how the differential recall worked. I took my truck in April 10:00 for a free service, never saw any oil under the truck, no sweat, I will be back to work that afternoon. At 1:30 I call and ask where is my truck? They tell me I had to talk to a specific rep. Finally at 3:30 he calls and informs me about some sort of leak and he will put me in a rental, I went home after 5:00. He tells me, it will only be a couple of days, so I take the Chevy car, not much choice. After two weeks, I tell them I have to have a truck, Enterprise came through with a Ram, so I am luckier then most, got the truck after 5:00. I keep calling, and they tell me no parts, that's when I discovered this sight, and I was most certainly not alone! 79 days latter, I get my truck back and they will not extend my warranty for the days my truck was down, which makes me wonder if they are not sure the repair will hold? The greatest irony, less then a week before I got my truck back, I received the recall notice!

If they kept your truck for 79 days, could you have lemoned it after 30/45?

There's a big thread here on that diff recall. Pretty sure everyone here knows exactly how it worked.

Won't argue with you there, as everyone should know by now that HONDA is #1 :D

(and me selling Honda's has nothing to do with it I swear :fingerscrossed:)

The results of this poll and the general sentiment of the 3rd gen forums are polar opposites.

Guess it just goes to show that the people who bitch, bitch the loudest.

Nearly 10% of unsatisfied owners on an enthusiast forum seems pretty high to me. Especially when that doesn't take into account the dozens upon dozens who decided to ditch the truck and cut bait.

Meh, in my experience with other auto/motorcycle forums it's not that remarkable. You have to remember that enthusiasm doesnt *have* to be adoration as well, it can also just mean major interest. There's plenty of smitty99s in the world that may have major problems with their vehicles, but are still enthusiastic about them, for better or for worse.

A poll like this also wouldn't capture the 1st and 2nd gen owners who get their rocks off trashing the 3G but don't actually own one, so there's that.
