You're sure "many" of us would take a Colorado over a Tacoma? Love how you speak so matter of fact. I really hate these stupid threads.

Tacoma has a base 5lug or a fully loaded TRD off Road. Just as Colorado has base and ZR2, comparison seems fine. We can't be bias as Toyota fans.

Take away the top of the line Colorado (Zr2) and the top of the line Tacoma (TRD PRO) and Tacoma wins in every department, interior, off road capability, QDR, resale, etc. So yes comparing one model is not really a good comparison. And the 3rd gens don't have a 5 lug anymore...

Many isn't quite relative, just saying:

    noun
    1. 1.
      the majority of people.

If this is true the resale value on my Gen2 should make me real happy when I sell early next year.

    I agree 100%.
Ironically, most people who will buy the TRD pro and ZR2 are only going to be using them as mall crawlers.
In the college town I live in there is one guy who owns a white TRD pro and that thing stays clean without a speck of dirt on it and I can tell it never leaves the pavement.
Most are buying the TRD pro and ZR2 as status symbols so they can say "hey, look at me in my $45k truck that only 1500 units are made a year of and I only drive it to work, to the gym, grocery store, and take on a road trip but never take off road or haul/tow anything with it"

Ironically... Most trucks stay on the pavement and never actually have anything put into their beds!

Toyota and TRD engineers even admit that only 10% of people buying these trucks are actually going off road.

To be fair did you tell them the Tacoma is also made in Mexico? Profits for the manufacturer also goes back overseas so the guy had a point. That said, l am also in favor of companies coming here and setting up shop and providing jobs and hope that more do.

Yes most double cab tacomas are made in Mexico because the San Antonio plant can't keep up with demand of these trucks when they are also trying to assemble tundras as well.

It's funny that all access cabs are made in Texas and a handful of double cabs are made in there and the rest are made in Mexico.

When I bought my TRD off road double cab all the double cab trucks on the lot had a "3" vin number except 2 double cab models were made in San Antonio. I bought one of them. The salesman told me most customers say the only want a Tacoma that was assembled in Texas but I believe it doesn't matter which facility you're Tacoma was built at as the quality and procedures are exactly the same.

Everyone just has this perception that "if it is made in Mexico, it's a POS or I am not supporting the American workers and jobs". At the end of the day, yes Toyota is a Japanese company and some of the profit goes back overseas but majority of the profit does go to the American owned dealerships and the American based manufacturing facilities. The San Antonio plant has 1900 employees and the dealership I bought my truck from is a family owned and operated business so I did help the American economy even though I didn't buy a domestic brand pickup truck.

Seen the new Ridgeline rather have old one as the new one is really too low and practically a car lol. I'd drive one of the twins if I couldn't afford my Tacoma. I would still want a new 3rd gen over all of them regardless could care less how they are selling. To many games played by most not all dealerships.
