    Can anyone who witnessed the collision between me and the white Dodge pick-up (Wal-Mart parking lot, SPI final meet-up point) please send me a write-up on what you saw? I know a couple folks stepped up at the time and offered witness, and I didn't think it would come to that, but I just got a letter holding me liable and asking me to pay $1,000+ to cover his damages.

    BULL-FUCKING-SHIT.

    It was a seriously rude letter too. No letters, no phone calls, they HAVE my insurance, and plate, and DL#, and yet I get a letter saying I'm going to be sent to collections unless I pay the insurance company $1,000+ in the next 15 days. WTF.

    Also, I gave a recorded statement the day after I got home. Did no one listen to it? Am I seriously at fault for trying to back into a parking spot and have some asshat pull behind me? Or did I black-out and honestly hunt him down and viciously run into him while he was parked innocently by?

    ARGGHH!!!! :frusty::infantry::bananadead::fenforcer:

    I'll tell you what I saw, which probably isn't what you want to hear.

    You pulled into the lot with rows of parking on your left and right. There were several vehicles behind you, the first being the white pickup. You turned left into a parking spot so that you could back across the aisle and back into a spot. The driver of the white truck waited while you turned left into the inital spot, then proceded down the drive between the two rows of parking. At that time you reversed out of the parking spot and backed into the white pickup.

    I hate to say it, but to me, you're at fault. Good luck fighting the insurance company.

    No, that's fine. I need to know where he was and what it looked like.

    How I remember it was, drove into parking lot, angled my nose to the left so that I could swing my tail around for the angled spot next to another Tacoma. While reversing, I got cut off by one small sedan, then by the white Chevy. The Chevy I did not see at all.

    So, it looked like I pulled left far enough to have parked?

    I tell you folks, the laws are really against people who back into a spot. Being perpindicular to the vehicle in a reverse-parking collision is about the only way you can argue it. According to Texas laws and past decisions, the people who pull past a spot, then back-in, are 100% liable for a collision.

    Yes, it looked like you pulled all the way into the spot across from the one you were planning on backing in too. I do not remember the brown sedan, but the white pickup wasn't driving too fast. He was following you, or the other car, and when you pulled into the spot he went past.

    I didn't see the white truck do anything out of the ordinary.
