I bought this tacoma used but in really good shape. It has a 2.7 in it. Had to do the thermostat and noticed this 3rd throttle body cable. I don't know what its suppose to be attached to. If anyone has a similar set up let me know what this is for. I posted some photos of what the cable is attached to. I know sometimes there is a cable for the transmission, engine, and cruise control.

    Welcome!

I would think that'd be cruise control but I'm pretty sure the module is supposed to be on the passenger side fender.

Do you have functioning cruise control?

Yeah the cruise control worked when I bought it and it didn't really give me any issues. I had to drive it 2 hours to bring it home on the highway. I haven't tried it since then because I mostly local drive it. I will try it today to see if thats what its meant for.

I'm going to take a guess and say that the system was added or modified by the previous owner and not at the factory. That doesn't look like stock routing and mounting to me.

I'm sure someone else would know better than I, though.

Does it even do anything to the throttle? It looks like it goes right through the axis of rotation, hence no rotation..
I agree that it looks aftermarket

Yeah I agree it doesn't look stock at all the wiring goes into the firewall in a drilled hole. I'm guessing the owner before me tried to install it because the steering wheel looks a little funky to me. It just doesn't seem right. The cable only pushes in and not out any further than where it is in the photo. I'm going to have to MacGyver a way to fix it.

Yeah, that's not stock afaik. The CC is a button that's attached to the steering wheel on the other side.

Looks like an aftermarket cruise control.

If it works I wouldn't mess with it, personally. Looks funky but I'd be happy just to have it.

That’s crazy..... I agree w/ the others; it’s an aftermarket accessory for sure. That’s a lot of conductors on that plug.... geeeezus

Maybe just zip tie that cable down a little better and ensure it stays well lubricated so it doesn't seize up on ya.

Other than that, yeah, if it works, don't go asking too many questions, lol.

If you don't use CC, I'd remove all parts/ wiring associated with it. Be sure to tidy up the OEM wiring harness where it was tapped in to.
    That's just me.

    Good luck.

Yeah I drove it today on the highway and the CC isn't working. I did some research and it seems like I am missing some hardware to attach that 3rd cable to the throttle body. For now I zip tied it to where it should be and it is working again. I am looking for the piece to attach it correctly. Thank you for the help with this.
