I guess you have more leak through than most. Like I said, the TSB isn't going to fix it.

The TSB actually helped a bit. I dont get it nearly as often as i did before, and when I do get it it is not as harsh as it use to be. Yeah the TSB was not for the flare but it did something. When the F will toyota figure all this crap out. Im so sick of it

Same issue here. Had TSB 3 weeks ago at 3400 miles. Took care of R-D lurch, not the 3-4 gear flare. Also has the 15 mph shudder. Took it for the 5000 service and told them the problems. They won't diagnose unless I leave it overnight. Sounds like they need a fix. We pay a lot of money for these trucks because they are supposed to be the best. Very dissappointed with this tranny! I appreciate everyone's posts on updates on this issue.

It would be up to Aisin the transmission manufacturer to figure it out and incorporate the correction into their design after pressure from their customers (auto manufacturers.) They deliver the complete units to Toyota for installation. My guess is Toyota wouldn't get into the transmission itself but only replace yours with another that may still have the symptom.

Not everyone is reporting the flare, I haven't seen it in my truck yet at over 10 k miles.

Yeah im a little hesitant to have them replace the tranny. I just hope nothing is wrong and they come out with another TSB to address all the issues people are having with the tranny.

I'm also having this problem. I've got a case open with Toyota about it. My dealership has been pretty awesome trying to work with me, but obviously they can't do much. My trans fluid was checked somewhere around 5k miles and found to be two quarts low. They updated the software on the truck and that fixed the reverse to drive lag, then this popped up.

I'm very disappointed. I've tolerated a lot of the little things with mine because I was in love. Now that the romance has faded, I feel pretty bitter. We're all pretty powerless it seems, and Big Toyota doesn't seem to be responding at all.

I hate to say it fellas, but if this doesn't get resolved, I'm walking out on Toyota. With this 3rd Gen (I've had the 2nd gen and been a Toyota fan since high school), they seem to be demonstrating they're no better than Ford, Chevy, or Dodge anymore. I hate that I'm paying a premium price for a sub par product. We've been duped. Might as well pay less for an equal product.

Take comfort in knowing you probably won't take a bath on depreciation if you decide to sell your truck via private party, they still seem to command top dollar on the resale market.

For your next purchase, I'd recommend googling "auto transmission shift flare" so you know what other manufacturers might be also have the problem. It's not just a Toyota thing, it's an auto transmission thing, specifically an Aisin transmission thing and they supply to more than just Toyota.
