It’ll always be slow until you run a piggyback computer and tune it properly for fuel, air, and timing. The stock Toyota computer is stupid and doesn’t know what to do with all this extra air, so it retards the timing.

I've never done the research on a piggyback computer system, but I've seen 5th injector kits... different but they go hand in hand I assume?

I also thought you could just get away with stock stuff (which I thought you were doing?)
To be honest speed is not my goal or desire, it's accelerating faster that I care about

To be perfectly honest with you I don’t notice a difference.

The fifth injector IMO is a bandaid. It’s not a proper solution. The only proper solution is a standalone or piggyback computer where you can tune the supercharger to actually make decent power.

Is your afr 16 at idle?

The ecu sucks at fueling, especially for quick spooling turbos

Hell yes. IF I HAD A BLOWER, was gonna say this to BartMaster1234 'still slow' comment:
    Have boost, don't care:D:cool:
I'm a fan of inline engines as well. Especially the bulletproof, lifetime lasting straight 6s in the Cruisers. Starting with the good old 2F I had in my 76 FJ40.
Straight 6 design balances very well
Kinda opposite of my 3 cyl 1.0L in the Geo Metro I had years back, idle was rough af..... And not from a lumpy cam either

Thank you for your honesty and inout!
Regretfully I've not gotten to see an older FJ up close and know almost nothing about them, but you've my knickers all moist thinking Toyota 4x4 with a straight 6 :oops:
If I had a shop where I could leave something on jack stands for years I'm cram a 2JZ in my tacoma .... (+ lottery winnings)

I rocked a 64 econoline that had the ford 300 in it and was a torque monster, wanted to do wheelies like nobodies business.

Those Geos were fun though! Hit the AC button to off on the hwy and it felt like a turbo kicked in :burnrubber::D

    Sorry for the thread jacking

Hahaha you nailed it! Share the same thoughts. That Ford 300 was bad to the bone and so overbuilt.
And the US Land Cruisers were all straight 6 until 1998, then they all got the 4.7 V8
Fortunately Toyota builds a kick ass V8 too..... But I'm a straight 6 kinda guy:D

I love inline engines too. They’re overbuilt compared to V-blocks and do the same job with fewer moving parts. The lowliest inline 4 has five main bearing caps, same as a V8. An inline 6 has seven main bearing caps but a V6 only has four. An inline 6 is naturally balanced due to the even cylinder throw pairings. The main reason V blocks are more common now is packaging in small engine bays. To most people a “tough” engine means horsepower. To me it means durability, and inline engines are tough as nails.

Agreed. In so many ways this 3rz is just like the 1FZ but smaller package. From the top at a glance they look very similar. I would imagine the design of the 1FZ completely influenced the 3rz.
