The 16 pieces are valve stem seals, no idea what the others are yet.

Just waiting for the head, had some spare time to install the new water pump. The new water pump was purchased from Amazon instead of Toyota OEM ( for obvious reasons((same company, 50% off)). Looks like someone in the Aisin factory job is to grind off the words Toyota on all water pumps haha.

The 8 parts in the middle are valve stem oil seals, either intake or exhaust. I cannot tell you which. Let's say they are for the intake valves. When you take off the valve retainer, keepers, springs, you will come to the valve stem oil seal. I replaced all of mine when I cleaned out all the oil sludge from the upper part of the engine. That's the only reason I know.

I will guess that the rubber grommet on the right is for your PCV valve in the valve cover. That's what it looks like to me. Some PCV valves are threaded, but some are without threads, and have a grommet inserted before you insert your new PCV.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see that the thread had gone onto another page. Ignore my answers.

The bright green color jumps out at me. You have coolant going into one cylinder, indicating a problem with your head gasket.

I discovered a crack on my head on that cylinder. Side note, that's the pink Toyota antifreeze, with uv dye added to it a week before this trying to find the leak, causing it to be florescent green.

Was able to get in the garage for a few hours today. I enjoyed setting the exhaust sub gear on the cam.. Getting those spark plug tubes set into the head was not fun at all.

I fudged up, I thought I was doing good at documenting cables/hoses etc. This one snuck past me.

    wire.jpg

It's on the same wire loom as the 4 injectors, the circle on the right is the wire for the power steering pump, the one on the left plugs into it? Is that all it is? Some type of ground or something I have no idea. Doesn't seem like it would do anything

I need you o silver taco master..

I finally fired up the truck after that work.... I now have P0300, p0301, p0302, p0303 and p0304 on my truck. It cannot hold idle without a slight RPM increase, even then, it's not very happy so I stopped trying.

I feel like the obvious answer is either a vacuum leak or a timing issue? All the hoses I can visually see are connected.

The timing seemed almost impossible to mess up? Exhaust cam gear and sub gear were lined up from the shop, with a service bolt placed through them, bolt was removed just prior to valve cover installation. The 3 dots in the back of the cam's were lined up with TDC, chain tensioner seemed to install just fine, made 3-4 rotations with a 19mm and heard no bad sounds.

Recheck all your wiring....recheck each engine sensor connector....
recinch all your ground points......deoxit would be best...

these are really very simple engines.....

See this all the time....and its usually something to do with an engine sensor.....

before I'd fired anything up.....I'd put a resistor between the pulled battery cables...
for couple or ten minutes to drain and reset everything........

I'd see it as a nothin to loose step.....

Also check your evap system carefully.....if you choke off the canister flow into my throttle body.....I get exactly that stumbling you describe.....

not sure if its low fuel or a vacuum issue causes that....

even the egr valve could be sticking or malfunctioning.....

Best thing I can tell you is 'Live data' off a scanner is your best friend.....

even my blue driver will do upto six variables at a time....

I'll look into that stuff tomorrow, it all sounds plausible.

The only diagnosing I've been able to do tonight is check compression again, I have 185 psi in all 4

I thought twice about it, as much fun as this project actually has been, it needs to come to an end. I have a 3 month old I'd rather be spending time with, this project is starting to take a toll.

you are saving my bacon lately, I'm pretty sure a cold beer is being sent your way soon
