Hey yall hope your having a good day! and just wanted to get a opinion on some people here on the 2.7l 4cyl 3rz.

Currently im getting around 14-15 mpg while on 285/75/16 on stock gearing which is 4:10s for my taco. i have the A30f 4 speed auto trans with manual locking hubs. I always hear that most people on their 4 cyls hittings 20's mpg but i cant tell if a lot of them are being dramatic and lying their ass off. Of course im 4x4 so it would be lower than a 2 wheel drive. I plan on adding armor, and already run sliders as is. Doesnt throw any codes besides a p0441.

20 is achievable with a 3rz for sure.

But those 285s are murdering your milage; the AT doesn't help either. You might get some back by regearing.

Might be the AT then, i dunno. Before I fixed the burnt valve I was averaging 15.45 towing, 20.06 mixed and 21ish on the hwy. Its been a garage queen since then because reasons, so i don't have new numbers. Mine is MT tho, but still 4wd.

personally the motor does idle slightly rough? idles between 640-650 recently seeing it get to 615 in drive. finally going to take of the throttle body and clean the bitch out. i also do burn oil which idk if that causes mpg loss

That sounds about right for the 2.7 with AT and 33" tires. My 2013 has 305/65/17 tires with the A4 and 4.10 gears and I get around 16-18 mpg in the summer and 14-15 in the winter (cooler weather and winter gas mix). The extra weight of the armor will knock down your mpg even more though. Here's a list of my last 2 years of gas fillups and the mpg. I don't do a lot of driving and most of it is around town. This year I did a lot less because of covid and barely did 1 fillup a month. I did add a cold air intake in Apr and it increased my mpg by .5 mpg compared to last year so far. I do tow a boat in the summer months so that probably knocks my numbers down a little bit as well.

With my 5 speed manual 3rz and 265/70-16 P series tires I'd easily get over 20 if I kept it at 70-75 mph.

My 5-speed gets 20-24 on 30s. 20 is usually when I feel like messing around and shifting 5k and 24 happens with just normal right lane daily driving

Sig truck with 265/70/16 AT tires. 17-19, all city. Winter warm-ups on cold AF days push me down to 17. High altitude doesn't help, and also 90% of my body weight is in my right foot.

I just did a ~200 mile round trip and somehow averaged 26.05. Definitely wasn't being easy on it, 70-75 almost the whole way. I'm a little baffled how it's higher than advertised even. I watched my ultraguage creep up from my normal 20-22 the whole trip

    On 3rd gen Tacoma sport 17" wheels currently 265/70/17 (30.6 or w/e)

Regular cab with nothing but me and some tools behind the seat. 75 degrees or so.
