On a related note, 05Taco4x4 and I have been having a gentlemens discuss on design topology and wanted to solicit the community's opinion. There are two views.

View 1: All the mounting bolts for the 3RZ SC to the adapter should be drilled through the adapter plate and counter sink the bolt's head into the adapter. This view does not utilize any studs in the design.

View 2: Utilize mounting studs on the 3RZ side of the adapter to mount the SC to the plate. This design does not require holes to be drilled through the adapter to mount it to the SC.

Both views have things to consider for reliability and longevity. View 1 removes the concern of stripping the aluminum threads from the adapter by over-tightening the studs when it is installed or by over-tightening the nut on the studs when mounting the adapter to the SC. View 2 is well supported by car manufacturers as seen by the heads are aluminum with studs supporting both the intake and exhaust manifold. There may be other factors to consider.

We would like the Tacoma community to weight in. Which view would you, as the potential consumer, prefer? Cast your vote by posting "View 1" or "View 2".

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I'd vote view two, less thread damage possibility and ARP makes stronger studs for 3RZ SC mounting.

    A thing or two...
I would vote for studs over countersunk allen heads. If one of those allen bolts loosened up, you would have to remove the whole SC to re-torque it. With studs, you could just re-torque it. If you're worried about stripping the threaded stud holes in the aluminum, you could design in steel drill bushings and thread those to take the threads. If you just have the threads in the aluminum and strip one, you can repair it with a threaded insert. You would want to make sure that there is enough material around the threaded holes in the adapter design to allow for the use of threaded inserts if it was ever necessary.

View 2 makes more sense to me. Loctite thread locker, thread in stud and be done. It will be stronger, and less wear and tear on other components during repeated removal and install for stripped counter sunk allen heads. Embedding threads in aluminum is fine if you include a torque spec on install.

The community has spoken. View 2: utilize studs, is the preferred and shall be in the final design.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. We appreciate it.

    With engine management?

Wonder if swapping an r151f would make a swap like that easier as well
