I have a 2003 Tacoma with the 3rzfe and am doing a valve job on it . I measured all of the shims just so I knew what they were for the next time I ever had to do a valve job. 3 valves were very slightly out of spec and I ordered shims for them the rest were in spec. The only problem I have is that some of the valves have shims that are smaller then any shim I can find anywhere to buy such as a 2.3mm shim or 2.4mm shim but Toyota and nowhere else on the internet lists these sizes. So my question is do any of you guys know a place that sells these size shims for when if ever I have to adjust these valves?

I recently did a valve job on my 96 3RZ and used Parts souq to get all my shims. Good prices on OEM stuff if you can stand to wait a week for it to come in.

From what I can see the smallest size they have is a 2.5mm

If you've gotten all of your valves within spec I wouldn't worry about it since the tolerances will change over time.

    Hope this helps.

Please tell me the head is still off the truck... find a reputable cylinder head machine shop and take the head there, they will probably tell you that you need to grind the stem a little to shorten the overall installed length. This is where a reputable machine shop would check the installed height and adjust it so that you dont run out of shim. I have heard of machine shops that will shave some material off the bottom of the thinnest shim. Not sure if this is a long term fix or just a patch.

Right now the head is off so I will most likely bring it to a machine shop to have them bind the valves stems down thanks
