I am interested in trading in my 08 taco TRD sport with a 4.0.
Can anybody tell me if Toyota is producing 4.0 TRD off-road anymore, And if they are not could somebody tell me when was the last year they did?
She only has 80,000 miles on it I don’t know why I just don’t keep it but I would like a newer truck for the warranty purposes.
Thank you guys and ladies of course good day

3.5 V6 in the 2016 Tacoma up. 4.0's are still in the 4Runners though...

They don't make 4.0 engine anymore. Last year 2015.
I vote keep the 2008 with super low miles!

The only way you are gonna get a new Toyota with a 4.0 is if you get a 4 Runner

80k miles? Why would you even think about a new truck? If you're averaging 8k miles a year, you've got 20+ years left in that truck before major maintenance stuff that MAY come up.

Calculate the difference between what you'd pay on a new Taco and what you'd likely get on trade right now. Put that chunk of $$ away in a rainy day fund that earns interest and see what develops over the next 10yrs?

The cost difference right now would likely pay for any major part.

You are right Guys I’m going to keep it and put a lift kit into it and do some mods.
At 80,000 miles it would be a little ridiculous to incurr debt
Any suggestions on a lift kit that will give me the results I need? Again thank you very much

Why a lift? What type of wheeling are you doing or intend to do? Lots of options available depending on your intended usage.

2015 was the last year for the 4.0 in the Tacoma. The current 4runner has a higher output 4.0 in it.

    Too much.
    Good decision.

I put 5100s in my 2018 with OME 884 springs and a 1-1/2" AAL. You can get the same kit for your truck. I don't know who in Nashua does lift installs, me and my cousin did mine at his house garage.

If you get a 3rd gen you will definitely be needing that warranty at the dealer with all of the tsb’s. My truck has had 2 weeks of warranty work in one year. Next week I get my torque converter looked at. Rear diff noise fix did not fix noise. If you let the truck just roll forward or backward and test the system to automatically stop you it shuts down the truck. And when I turn off traction control it does not turn off.
I’d think about that before moving on.

It's not the engine it's all the other stuff that goes and adds up in the long run due to aging That's the way it is on most cars. And who wants to drive a 25 year old heap ?
Actually it's all about $$$ and what you can afford.

My neighbor has a lift in his garage.
    Pretty convenient for me.
As far as wheeling goes, I would like it for unpaved roads and getting to fishing spots and loading firewood .
