Does this sound concerning to anyone. I came across this tread and some sound kinda similar. I just replace all my idler pulleys.

I was worried when i bought mine used in 2021, 4 year and 42 000 km latter, still have the knocking. My oci is every 6 month and nothing showed up in the oil analysis. One of my friend own a 4x4 shop and i can tell you that every 2nd gen Tacoma i saw there had some kind of noise.

Mine knocked at idle too at about 190k. Put 5w-40 in it and it went quiet. At 263k now with likely a blown headgasket lol

this however sounds worse. Mine did not make noise when hitting the gas….this video is rod knock/lower end failure

The noise seem to come from the evap purge solenoid (driver side) , It can be tappy, you can unplug it for a short time to see if the noise disapear. But in general this sound like many 4.0 i heard in my life, to be honest when i cross path with a quiet one, i find it suspicious hahaha

Chasing sounds getting old , I hear all these also but my truck runs like a beast 2013 88K ! Haven't run across a real Toyota champ ,just wanna B grease monkeys so far . Good shops have one veteran & he's booked to the hilt & the rest trying to figure it out. I have my stereo volume between 40-45 & helps quite a bit. Happy Trails out there !
