Thats the "fun" part about diagnosing an intermittant condition, if you were to check fuel pressure leakdown in the last two days it probably would have passed the test. Yet tomorrow it might leak badly, and fail miserably. It might take a few attempts to get true results.

Another thing to try, is after an attempt or two at starting (when it doesn't want to) is to pull all the spark plugs, and look of any that are wet with fuel.

Very interested in this thread. This past week or so, my 06 with 4liter has required 5-6 seconds of cranking to start as opposed to the usual 2-3 seconds. Don't know if it is engine temperature related or not but it only does it after it has set for several hours. When it starts, it runs normally, settling right down to a smooth idle. It has about 72k miles so I thought I might change the plugs although most vehicles with the newer high energy ignition systems seem to go 100k before plugs are needed. I too get no engine failure codes.

My truck has never been what I would call a quick starter. I've had other vehicles that seemed to start at the touch of the key, this one has always required more cranking time than I am used to. Is that normal for the 4liter engine?
