4.0 Tensioner (pulley only) part #

Has anyone just replaced the pulley on the Serpentine belt tensioner? Is one of the idler pulleys a direct bolt on?

 

You have to buy the whole assembly. You can’t buy just the pulley. You can however replace the bearing in the pulley as long as the pulley itself is in good shape. I ordered a 5203-2RS bearing just last week and replaced mine.

 

@Bubbarut Where did you get the bearing from?

 

I ordered it from one of our vendors at work. I’m pretty sure you can order them from Amazon.

bearing distributors inc was the name of the place I ordered mine.

 

How hard it is to replace the entire tensioner vs. just the pulley bearing?

 

You have to unbolt the AC compressor and the alternator - tensioner assembly is the base mount for both of them.
Did mine as tensioner was allowing the belt to slip at full throttle - could smell it and see the belt glazing over on flat side.
