About to go buy this truck! Just sold my 97 taco:( bitter sweet. 22RE was good to me...im nervous about this 06 seems like there's a lot of head gasket issues around 150,000...and this trucks rolling close to 150.
What do you think guys...? 06 4.0 6 cylinder is bueno? Im about to call and see if it was made in the early years of 06 or the later years of 06

Assuming decent maintenance I would have no issues. I've had 2 of them 07 and 10 with 200k and no issues at all with motor.

What I know, don’t buy a high mileage vehicle when there are so many low mileage examples out there. I recently bought an 07 Sport, perfect condition probably never see a dirt road 91k miles, 12,500 bucks now I can put several hundred thousand miles on that.

if you can deal with a 4 cylinder engine theres probably more opportunities for those trucks vs. getting a V6 in a used model

I’m in the Midwest but if I were looking for the perfect truck I’d be willing to fly in and drive back. Look at the second one I listed it has only 13,000 miles

yeah ive been looking nation wide...my perfect truck would be manual long bed crew cab...but can't seem to find long bed crew cab that is also a manual anywhere. My problem with that second link is that is not 4x4, its an automatic, and its a short bed.
im thinking if the down under of this truck looks alright it may be a decent deal for the west coast...I am concerned about the 06 engine having head gasket issues.

unfortunately for used Tacoma buyers the market is slim and the costs are super high almost to the point of being better to bite the bullet and buy a new truck, I get emails everyday from local Toyota dealers wanting buy back my old Tacoma 4 banger

best bet is to get a CARFAX report on any used truck before you buy then you can see the vehicle history and make a judgement on it. worth the money

My ‘05 had 196,000 miles when I traded it in 2015. Had zero troubles. Did all the routine maintenance. Maybe the best truck I’ll ever own....

yeah I should get the Carfax or see if the dealer will provide! gotta be 4x4 really want a manual! as much as that neon blue truck seems like a good deal, and I also don't want to be superficial...but just can't do that color...it wouldn't look good on me.lol
