09 I bought new,95000 miles currently. All routine maintenance done religiously. Only problem is I had a a/c hose replaced. Never any other problems. Love this truck.
Didn’t they resolve the head gasket problem around 2007 or so? I thought it was only the first 2 years of the second gen that had the head gasket problem. If anyone knows please chime in.

I made it to around page 4 of this thread, seeking bad things that have come up in these engines... didn't really see anything. Hopefully posting in this thread doesn't jinx our engines...

110,000 miles (180,000 km) on my 6 speed MT.

No issues to date. Changed plugs, oil changes, filters, clean MAF sensor.

184k on my wife's 06. Aside from oil changes and filters, I did water pump, thermostat, fan belt this past summer and have done spark plugs a few times at 50k intervals. Just routine stuff and a couple CEL's that never came back once researched and cleared along the way. I hope the new-to-us 2014 DCLB is just as reliable (and the reason it was purchased over a new 3rd gen).

No issues from 2007 on with head gaskets. I heard Toyota got word of the issue and corrected it promptly.

2005 with 166k on mine. Im not the original owner but engine wise Ive only done oil changes, air filters, new belt, and just recently did the plugs(which were factory plugs). I have an idler making some noise on cold mornings but thats it, doesnt leak any oil but might burn half a quart every 5k. When it comes to the truck as a whole Ive had some non normal wear problems, frame rusted out, muffler rusted out, blower motor problems, intermediate steering shaft failed, have a bad cat, clear coat failing in multiple spots, had rack and pinion replaced due to leaking.

As I understand it, they switched to the new head gasket in December 2005.
So, 2005 and early production 2006 got the old head gasket.
    Sorry, I don't have a link.

Production date for mine is 8/06.

213,000 on my 2011, runs strong. I just drove it cross country to see my mom. I think it’s going to run forever.

For those who may be loosing sleep over this, the production dates where the old style head gaskets were used and the new style installed thereafter are as follows:

    - From 09/2004 through 10/2005 the old style head gaskets were used
    - From 11/2005 onward the new style gaskets were installed during production and the new style gaskets used until the end of the 1GR-FE in 2015

Almost 207k miles. On original plugs too. 420 miles a tank. Runs very well. Very low maintenance. Never left me stranded.

The 1GR-FE is still alive and well, used in the current 4Runner and a host of non-USA market SUV's (although it is the dual VVT-i roller rocker version)

Burning a half a qt of oil at a 166k miles? Man, I'd figure out if it going out the tail pipe or sludging up at the top end. Out the pipe, no biggy, sludging up... Biggy

Damn dude, that's like moving from a studio apartment to a mansion lol. I can't imagine driving a truck that big, I would get migraines everyday driving in LA and looking for parking...

255k+ on my 2009 DCSB I've owned since new. I'm a high mileage driver as its my road trip as well as work truck. Last year, I put 45k on the truck. I'm very diligent on maintenance. Other than worn parts like shocks, springs, etc, the big 2 issues were a had a right rear axle seal leak, and in the process of bench bleeding the brake system, the master cylinder went out.
