Hi guys, I came here over from the tundra forums. I have a 2012 doublecab toyota tundra with a 1GR-FE the updated DOHC 270 HP model. I am looking to make more power or even supercharge it within the next year and a half. Transmission has an upgraded valvebody and has been rebuilt at 133K currently at 145K. Just did the valve body upgrade around 139K. I love toyotas and this truck is important to me I do alot of the work myself to learn things and when I fail which I have once I turn to professionals. Forums like this one are the only reason I have gotten so far with my build and I am extremely thankful for that. I know you guys ran the engine for a while and I figure you have much more info on this than anyone in the tundra forums.

Is your truck the dual vvti 4.0?

Yes it has dual overhead cams second gen tundras had the 236 hp V6 for a few years and I am lucky enough to have a unicorn. Good engine but a very heavy truck. I did do a vin search a while back to double check only way I could have the 270 HP model is with the dual vvti update.

Very cool! Well since thats the case, the thread i posted has lots of good basic info for someone adding boost, but youll need a different blower since yours is the updated 4.0.

Yeah I am having trouble getting in contact with URD for information on their superchargers, spoke to the dirty deeds owner and he told me as long as I get the supercharger for the dual vvti all I need to do is run a larger pulley 2-3 pounds of boost and theoretically I can get some more power without having to tear into the computer system which can only be reprogrammed once. I would need a monitoring system along with an upgraded fuel pump and a way to control fuel intake. This is fine for me as I don't want a crazy amount of power I just want a little push and in the future I could tear into tuning and upgrades.

The thread is amazing though, should've came to this forum sooner. I hope the EPA doesn't decide to overstep and outlaw modifications like I've been hearing they are planning to do once again.
