Sorry, It was posted "Tongue in cheek" in the past Fram filters have really taken a hit from the members, using a fram is generally considered a No-No & the root of all evil! (not I, I have used Fram with confidence for years)

If you want to know what I really think of this problem, read my post from a little earlier. (post 32)

I stopped using Fram filters years ago, although I thought I heard they were better now. I cut one open once and 1/8th of the filter part was missing, you could see the metal core that it should have been covering. so the filter was not even filtering. and they used to use cardboard check valves.

I don't see the correlation between the filter and oil use. Care to explain how that works.

Exactly my thoughts. Although, where in the Toyota manual did you find the warning against synthetic oil?

OP: Did you allow a break-in period before switching out the dinosaur oil to synthetic? (And get rid of the FRAM!)

I had 175,000 on my '06 V6 and it didn't use a drop but I did have that problem with my '07 Camry I4. The oil return holes clogged in the Pistons and it pushed the oil out with no noticible smoke. My engine had to be rebuilt by Toyota.

The pistons do not have oil return holes.

The oil return "holes" are in the engine block and heads. You must have had the oil gelling problem...

The filter has nothing to do with it.

The bypass does just that - bypasses the filter media if it's clogged / too high a pressure. It just sends the unfiltered oil back into the block

    I reco this.
1)Pull your fram filter & replace with factory. I do not believe this is your issue esp. Because it is more than one filter.
    2)top off oil level.
3)return to dealer & tell them of your issue.
4)if they balk, have them perform oil/filter change & notate mileage.
5)return after 2-3K miles & leave the truck until they find & fix the issue.
Good luck & keep us informed.
