long tubes need zero welding..... urdusa has 02 simulators.... ive run them without much issue.... random cat inefficient code, but its very rare and I dindt worry bout it. Now im on shorties and have no worries at all.

So with a set of URD Long Tube headers should I consider a high flow CAT converter or is that pretty pointless and should I just keep my stock CATs

Most people looking at our trucks won't even notice the absence of the precats on the stock headers. They will notice the two large ass cats post headers. No welding with the long tube version. O2 sim if you want, as it's not a necessity for proper operation. It will just keep your truck from throwing a cell. I can understand all the questions before purchase as I had the same ones prior to purchasing mine. You don't need anything special to run long tube headers. It may take a few minutes for your computer to compensate for the decrease in exhaust pressure/better air flow. This will go away. Don't let it scare you. When I purchased my Doug throley lth most people at that time were doing the same and those that bought the shorties weren't very happy. That may have changed reading some of the replies in this thread but I love mine and have been error free for many years. On a side note the o2 sim I have is from URD.

I looked at it like this-maintain low end torque, not have to fuck with headers come smog time, Y pipe take 5-10 minutes to swap out for OEM. Hoping to get my DTST headers on this weekend, hopefully

You will need the URD O2 simulator, I have had zero issue with it. I only have 2 cats and with the O2 Sim I haven't had any check engine lights and each year in NH they hook the ECU up to an emissions computer and I haven't fail a state inspection....clear sailing my man

    Long Tube...

On my Tacoma’s OEM exhaust system I cut the mid-pipe cats off and used them on my new custom exhaust, sometimes people call them resonators; trust me they are catalytic converters. I took a look down the “resonators” and they looked just like honeycomb catalytic converters.

As far as cats go unless you live somewhere that smog checks during vehicle inspections I wouldn't even bother to put them back on and would put a straight pipe In its place. Anything I've ever had exhaust on has had the cats removed

A couple guys here on the forum did that and it killed low rpm power. The VVT-I system runs off the pulses of the exhaust system.

Gotcha. My personal experience has been on a mustang gt with o2 sims and a diesel pickup.

If I had a diesel I wouldn’t run the DPF either haha

    Whole lotta stuff
My vote is for the URD LT headers. I would go buy them in a heart beat. But....... I live in California.

Personally, I wanted the low end torque retained, (and couldn't go with URD equal length) so I went with DT Short headers and URD Y pipe. Also, because of Smog issues, I only have to swap out my Y pipe :D and not fuck with headers.

But yea, i highly recommend the URD Spec U headers if you dont have to worry about smog, or don't care. They showed gains across the board (low end and high end) and probably have the most HP gain of all the headers. Get the O2 sims and you're good to go.

Hey fellas, my truck just threw the wretched bank 2 cat code again after I reset it and my buddy who is toyo mechanic said they can run a test where they boost the injectors up to see how the bank 2 sensor reacts to confirm if it's the cat or sensor. If it is the Cat I'm pretty sure the 2nd one will go tits up not long afterward and was looking for some advice on which to way go? Just can't stomach paying almost 2 grand to replace them with OEM equipment and no performance benefit to boot. My concern though, is that I live in Maryland and have to go through emissions and don't want any headaches with throwing codes and chit!! So any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Was checking out the magnaflow Cats on Summit racing but can't seem to find any reviews to confirm if they are any good and thinking about calling Gaget at URD to get his input. Thnx
