4.56 gearing...what all do I need?

    I am about to purchase 4.56 gears for my 2011 Tacoma TRD sport 4x4 and I'm curious what all I need to get this done. Mine doesn't have the rear e-locker but I do use 4x4 for hunting, camping, snow, mud and off-road fun in northern California where I live. I currently have King shocks front and rear and running 315/75/16's and there is obviously a power loss due to the engine having to pull the 35's. (including my odometer being off while at highway speeds and sometimes minor issues with it going from 4th to 5th while on highway)

    I'm not the most mechanically inclined person, I know I need the gearing for the rear differential...is there anything I need for the front differential? Would it make sense to throw in a rear e-locker while I'm at it? Is it bad on the powertrain if not changed to 4.56? I have been running the stock gears for about 40k miles with the 35's...

    What are the costs of having this done at a shop? (the shop I go to gets good business from me so I'm fairly sure they are reasonable and not overpriced)

    Finally does anyone have all the parts and parts numbers I need to get this done? Any and all help will be much appreciated.

    You need to do both the front and rear to the same gearing at the same time. Have them send you assembled diffs, pay the core deposit, then get said deposit back when you send them your diffs.

    I want to do lockers on both, but having to do them at the same time has prevented it ($$$$$)

    It may prevent me from regearing, just so I can do one end at a time.

    That's sounds pretty damn easy. Around what cost (estimated) would a shop charge to put both of those in?

    I drove to ECGS and had them put 4.56 in. I think i paid 900 for labor.

    Chose not to add front locker. Dont need help breaking things. I have a rear locker though.

    The locker alone is $1000. Call ECGS to discuss your options with them. There are a bunch of details you wouldn't have any reason to know until you shop for new gears.

    ARB usually offers spring sales that include discounts on lockers and aircompresser, just sayin. If your not wheeling super hard, throw one in the back for the just in case situations. If youre gonna spend 1400 on gears, whats another couple hundred to have a locker in the rear imo

    A little of this and a little of that
    Send the cores back ASAP to get the FULL core charge back. Don't wait a 3 months or a year (like I did) or you won't see the full amount.
