Subbed I'm also undecided on 4.56 or 4.88s. I'm running a 35 and with 3.73 gears it sucks lol

Well you're just in luck. I just finished regearing the truck to 4.88s with 34s a couple days ago. At 80mph, I'm running at 2800rpm. 65ish around 2400

Plenty powerful enough for me. I decided I wanted more power over fuel economy. Truck gets up to speed super easy (I have about ~1200lbs of extra stuff on the truck constantly over stock weight), almost better than stock. If I was to do the fuel economy route, I'd stick with 4.56. Regardless, my RPMs will decrease when I go up to 35s (maybe even 37s but that's a ton of extra work) so I am happy with my choice. If you are running 35s currently, I believe you'd probably experience ~200rpm less than what I'm experiencing. I vote 4.88s

I'm interesting in seeing what this new tank of gas gets me with the new gears. Before I was getting around 14.5-15.5mph on average. I'd assume the new gears will be roughly the same or a little lower

I have 4.88's on 285/75R16. I've had the same gears in the same truck with straight up 35's as well.

I would go with 4.88. RPMs on the highway are fine (2200-2300), the truck has some pep off the line, and when you drop the transmission and transfer case into low/low, it crawls really well.

What classifies your highway speeds? My truck runs at 2700 at 75mph which is the speed limit here

I went to 4.10's with 34's and medium armor, because I would much rather be under-geared than over-geared. Mainly because DD and highway traveling. But it sounds like you're a little heavier than I am, and you might go to 35's some day, so I would say try 4.56's for yourself.

lol this too. I've traveled through CO a few times now, fully loaded with trailer. If I lived there I would no doubt own a Tundra.

I'm running 4.56 with 35's and i love it. ECGS recommended for me the 4.56 gears because of the supercharger. Without supercharger they said to go with 4.88s especially if you have armor. I had the 3.73s previously and sometimes the auto trans wouldn't go into 5th gear. Now it shifts when it's supposed to.

    just a few things.
So you guys suggest 4.56 with 33.5? 295/75/16 on AUTO with weight and armor? I’m torn between 4.56 and 4.88 also. I don’t plan on going 35s

So I am 34s (285/75/17) with full armor and about to go 35x12.5x17 tires. I chose 4.88 for the power and I get on average 10-12 mpg on the highway. Slightly better around city... I was getting around 13-16mpg before regearing but I could not keep speed on the highway.

If you want slightly better power, but more focused towards fuel economy, get 4.56 for sure. It sucks having to refuel every 180-200 miles sometimes.

The choice is up to you, but your fuel economy may decrease even with 4.56 gearing depending on how fast you drive. My recommendation is 4.56 if you are sticking with 33.5s. (But I also said I would never get anything bigger than 33s and here I am now preparing for true 35s)
