I’m actually considering an a760 swap into my 05 tundra for the extra over drive gear. With a 3uz ecm tuned to run the 4.7.. so I’ve looked into the 750 and 760 similarities. Need to physically acquire one to see if it’s really doable

Fair point. Best of luck. The UR engines are monstrous. When we pull them at work we usually just pull the cab. They can come out the top.. but it’s a fight to not damage anything

(and we got use to frame swaps so it takes minimal time)

tundras mind you. Not GX.. I don’t work for Lexus. Lol only Toyota

Good point, I am thinking that taking apart the radiator support will likely be the best way to fit it in my garage.

Potentially. Not fin drilling all those spot welds. But it would make fitting it easier. I wouldn’t be surprised if you have to do some massaging to the fire wall too

LS is so much easier. But I understand you have the crashed Tundra.

I think that was more a comment on how difficult the engine swap itself would be, not how "easy" a body swap would be. Like faking the moon landing so convincingly would be so extraordinarily difficult, you might as well build a rocket and actually fly it to the moon.

Now, maybe you could get a gen1 tundra frame to fit fairly close on a gen3 Taco since those are much closer in overall size.

OP, as others have said, "anything" is possible, but I'm willing to bet there simply isn't going to be room for the motor in the engine bay without serious cutting. But you're the one with the parts sitting in front of you. Go grab a tape measure.

Other things to worry about are your drivetrain, like, all of it. Going to such a vastly different power plant, you're going to break stuff. Tacomas are strong trucks, but Tundras use completely different parts for a reason. I'd use all the drivetrain from the Tundra if you went down this road.

Yeah, I’d stay away from the UR’s. Way over complicated engines, and they are prone to computer issues. 2UZ’s are probably the most reliable engine Toyota has ever made, outside the 1uz. I’m pretty sure there are stand alone harnesses available for them now.

honestly.. the 2UZ is a beast.. i love my tundra with it.

but i would do a 3UZ in a taco.. more power. (all the way around) and its lighter because its not an iron block.

UR's are massive. I think they are 90 degrees. Would take a large amount of fabrication.

theyre 90 degree v8s. but so are the UZs. the difference is the width of the heads due to the dual cam gears instead of the more compact cam gear and a small scissor gear inside. the UZ is the best fit for a 1st gen.. and a better fit for a second gen

    3UR’s are pretty big.

Yay, Toyota diagnosed a bad head gasket. Turned out to be a computer issue.

Other than coal tower leaks I rarely have a 3ur in with issues at work.

That being said I’ve done a TON of cam tower reseals

I don't care what you guys say, I am going to full send a 1UR into a 2nd gen Tacoma. The OP was talking about 1st gen, it will fit into a 2nd gen considering a GX460 is basically the same size.

I've been quoting tensioners with the cam housings now. So many are stuck maxed out now and rattling, so I combo it.

Hate the cam reseal so much. I've never done the sneaky method yet.
