What size tires are you running or plan on running with the 88's?

Question for OP as I'm thinking of regearing too and have same tire size. How much extra weight are you carrying? And why 4.88 over 4.3x?

Why re-gear with almost stock tire size?

4.88's still put the final drive ratios lower than a manual trans truck. The auto is simply undergeared. hence why even going to a 32-33" tire makes the truck such a dog. Toyota geared the transmission aggressively towards mileage and put it on the edge of practical. The also poorly placed 5th gear causes the drop to 4th to be over 1000rpm jump at times (depending on speed). That's too big of a gap.

The only real way to solve this is by changing the final drive ratio. No tuning magic can overcome this. This allows 6th and 5th to be much more usable. i'll see both an increase in performance, mpg's, towing capability all with less wear and tear on my truck. Plus opening myself up for running larger tires once my 265/70/17's are worn.
