I'll bet. Just on my 33's and not towing my truck pretty much wanted to downshift just to maintain 75mph on the freeway...

I'm think both of you are speeding in these pics... Do you have your speedometers calibrated for those 35's?

On my 33's with stock gears, running a true 75 mph I sat right at just over 2000rpm. 35's should be sitting just over 1900 rpm.

On my 33's with 4.88's I run just under 2700 rpm at a true 75 mph. 35's should sit just over 2500 rpm.

Those numbers are with an auto of course. Manuals will run higher rpms.
I'm guessing fballersoucant is going about 85 mph instead of the 74 in the pic and farbio615 is going about 80-82 instead of 70.

^^^Just a heads up guys to save you from a ticket. I saw a thread on here last week about a guy that thought going to a bigger tire corrected the speedo. That may be true if you go to a 265/75 from a 265/70 but anything bigger and you are making it read lower than what you are really traveling. He went to 35's and couldn't figure out why he got pulled over for doing 10+ over when his speedo said he was doing the speed limit.

^^ im with you on the speeding part. with my 35's on stock gears running true 75 my rpms where close to 2200 when i put the 37's on stock gears when i could actually get it to shift into overdrive the rpms where between 18-2000. Now i have my 4.88s in and when im doing 75 my rpms are close to 24-2500 on 37's when i get my 35's put back on today ill update this

Agreed on the speedo being off.

This is a picture of my speedometer with 35's, 4.88's and the speedometer calibrated.

You have to buy one of those speedo calibrator things that wire into your ecu... Search it and you will find a few threads on various ones. They typically cost about $200 though... You can get an Ultraguage for almost a quarter of that price and then just calibrate it with a gps and it will tell you how fast you are going and many other things:D I like mine.

No. The ultraguage will keep track of how many miles you travel via the reading from the ECU. You can use a GPS to go out and measure how far you actually drive one of the times you drive and input that into the ultraguage and it will calculate the percentage the ECU is off by and then display the new corrected speed. It's pretty easy to do and you only need the GPS that one time and then after that you could just use it to verify that the ultraguage is reading correctly.

I have a friend here in town that works at the toyota dealership, he's the parts guy there. He said, and I've read this before on here, that Toyota can't adjust the speedo. The ECU has just never been cracked, so the best people have done is modify signals before they get to the ECU with piggy back devices like mafcal's, inline calibrators and APRX-1's and such. I imagine if it's doable with just software Toyota of all people could do it.

Just plug it in to the OBDII port. Almost as easy as a phone charger into the lighter port. haha

    and here: http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/index.htm

Calibrating them is really pretty easy to do.

Toyota will not and cannot adjust the speedometer. I have tried at 4 different dealerships around me.

The Ultragauge (UG) will not adjust the speedometer, it will just display the new speed on the UG. That's a pain in the ass for me since my UG is mounted by my cigarette lighters. So this may or may not be good for you.

The only way I have found to calibrate the speedometer easily has been the Hyptertech Inline Speedometer Calibrater. Takes about 30 minutes to calibrate.

I use the hypertech as well. Very good investment considering it makes the mileage on your truck read properly when you go to sell it.

What's wrong with your mileage reading a little low when you sell it?;) haha

I just put my ultraguage on my dash and have gotten so used to looking at it that it seems weird to look at the actual speedo now. Haha

Cause it doesn't read low, it reads high. 4.88's + 33's = "Man it doesn't FEEL like i'm going that fast"

You're a manual trany huh? Auto trannys speedos aren't affected by gears. Ours read from the wheels not the tcase.
