I plan to post some sounds after install but I first would like some feedback on where I can find a good thread, video, or pictures to help with removal and installation of a new header on the 2.7L 3RZ-FE in my 1999 Tacoma. Any help is great help.

L.C.E. has videos galore. I'm going with their header for my 2TR eventually.

Went with LCE full set up. Turns out LCE has engineered their system around Magnaflow. Package came with magnaflow cat and muffler.IMG_0682.jpg

Removed the Flowmaster 50 and put on a Thrush Super Turbo. Much better! The FM drone was getting on my nerves on the hiway. Ill post a sound clip as soon as the wind dies down.

Was the drone really bad or just bad? Like could it have been solved by just cranking the radio, or adding a resonated tip?

Flowmaster, IMCO and Thrush welded are all that same chambered design and they all drone like a mofo unless you don't mind welding up a Helmholtz resonator while you're under there.

    Yes. :)

In dyno testing, the LCE long tube header lowered the torque peak by 650 rpms, and the Flowmaster Delta Flow lowered it by only 100 rpms. However, they do work well together.

That depends on which model you get. The 50 Delta Flow has two different sized Helmholz resonators built into it and I get hardly any drone at all.

Before I had it installed, I looked closely inside both ends and the innards are exactly like this one. Here's a pic showing the center flow and one of the Helmholtz.

That's about the same noise level as my interior, but it's a lower pitch with the CFT. My friend remarked that it had a Subaru-like quality to it. It's kind of like a glassless glasspack. Here's the cutaway. Been putting these on vehicles for a while. Durable as well

How much did your Gibson run you? I'm tied between the CFT and the Flowmaster 50 DF. I'm most concerned with drone on the interstate cruising at 70-80 mph, is there any? If there is is it bad?

There's a miniscule amount, and it's not annoying at all. Drove from Chicago to Springfield a few days ago, no issues.

Price wise, i got mine on Amazon day after Christmas for $25. Usually goes for around $90-110.

Yes, its a 50 DF. Dont you have a header? And would the fact that i have a double cab and more piping make a difference also?

My wife too, however, I did put an exhaust tip on mine and she said that it alleviated most of it for her.

Salvaged it off of a squarebody Silverado that passed through my shop this winter.

3.5" slash cut singlewall tip. the weld line is the pipeline so it's basically a megaphone.
