It handles the camper fine at 1600lbs with 400lbs of camping gear in the back. Towing in the NC foothills running 55 to 60MPH it gets 16 to 17MPG using 4th as high gear not using 5th much. Next camping trip will be a 550 mile round trip to SC coast, so will be able to check it out on interstates. Installing radial tires on the camper before the next trip. A friend will be following with his late model Nissan V-8 Titan & 3500lb camper. He was impressed with how the 4 banger Tacoma handled the camper on the last trip in the foothills and said there is no need to tow any faster since fuel economy drops quite a bit at higher speeds.

    Gets 20MPG towing a 2000lb boat rig @ 65MPH on interstates.
This pickup "unloaded" gets 29MPG @ 65MPH on interstates.

Very happy with the 4 banger Tacoma! :)

Yep, 2WD and really like it. Had a 87 2WD 2.4L manual transmission Pickup, and "really" liked it, but when my Son wanted to sell his 03 Tacoma, I had to have it. Had five people wanting to buy my old 87 and the #1 guy on the list bought it a few days after I let him know it was for sale. He said it's the best pickup he has owned.

    Thanks Guys!

The 1987 2WD Pickup I sold earlier this year: :)
