Yes. Especially north of the boarder, with the synthetics, the cold morning starts are lots easier. Here in New England, there are a few mornings where I was glad to have it in there. Plus the overall benefits of reduced wear and performance, makes the extra expense justified in my opinion.

    ^

You made 500. :D Damn good.

I don't run my A/C much but I have been surprised when I do that it doesn't hurt too bad. I could do a test with the scangauge but haven't bothered.

Great tank for me this last time around!

395ish when the light came on. Irritated that I couldn't get the 4.

Rough estimate...23?? Still pretty darn good for what I've got going on. Fill up tomorrow, had to drive around with the light on for a bit this afternoon. Price is gonna be killer, MPG should a little higher than usual.

    Same here.

Traffic hurts my mileage more than the AC.
Even mythbusters confirmed that having the AC on is more efficient than windows down.

on 8-8-12, I traveled from LA to Citrus Heights,CA on a single tank of gas, I averaged 70 mph and had the A/C on the whole time.

How common is it for a 2.7l to have 400 miles per tank?

For stock vehicles, I'd say pretty common. Regular Cab, 5 lug trucks with manual transmissions do it with ease. Tougher as you add 4 wheel drive, auto tranny, and a Double Cab (adding weight). Of course, better MPGs at lower speeds, fewer stops, flatter terrain and warmer temperatures. Some pretty impressive numbers posted in this thread!

Did a short fill the other day and my MPG dropped to 25.4, 219.8 miles gallon of 87 octane. Traffic and more short trips of 4 miles or less. Still hot as Megan Fox around these parts. May your A/C keep working.

    Happy motoring my friends:burnrubber:

Easy, depending on how low you want to run the tank.

I typically refuel at about 350-360 miles and take in the ballpark of 14 gallons.
14 gallons... I still have 6 left, 5 comfortably... I could comfortably get 460 miles even on a "poor" MPG tank.
My Ultragauge regularly estimates 500 miles to empty.

Keep in mind that your 33" tires make it look worse than it is.
If you have a Prerunner and did not regear, you're over 5 miles off for every 65... so 240/65=3.69.... 3.69*5=18.45.

You actually went closer to 260 miles for 14.4mpg

Does anyone run 285/70/17 or 285/75/16 in a good street or light tread tire like Dueler Revos or something and have their MPG difference? I had great MPG with my 265/65/17 Dueler stock tire but then lost a chunk when going to the 265/70/17 BFgoodrich TKOs. I'm thinking about getting a set of 285/70/17 Revos and I'm wondering if I will see the same MPG?

Tires can make a big difference. A more aggressive tread pattern will not yield as good MPGs as a highway rated street tire. I saw a loss when switching from Firestone's to Dueler A/T's years ago. But with a RWD Ranger, I wanted more bite for the snowy days. Size and inflation are other factors to consider.

This.... Don't forget about the calibration errors introduced, as I mentioned above when going to 33" tires.

The 265/65-17 to 265/70-17 wasn't a huge difference, but it still introduced a math error of about 3.3%... for every 100 miles on the odometer, you actually went 103, and your MPG calculation will reflect that.

Moving up to 285/70-17 will push that error up to almost 7%...

Calculated 18mpg would actually have been a hair over 19.

So when MPG drops due to new tires, don't freak... look at your fueling history. For me, 4 trips to work and back is in the ballpark of 14 gallons.
If I change tires and now I'm only making 3 trips for 14 gallons, then I know I lost a huge bit of MPG, but if I'm still making 4 days and 14 gallons, then whether the odometer says I went 350 or 250 miles, I'm actually unchanged.

Larger tires are a blessing and a curse. At conservative highway speeds (55-65), they can help mileage by lowering the final drive ratio... basically give you two overdrives.
But you have to get that moving, so the lower ratio will hurt your around-town mileage and performance.

Regearing will restore the proper ratio and bring the speedo calibration back... but you still need to consider tire/wheel weight, tire width, tread pattern, inflation, etc.... All of these things impact mileage.

Filled up today. 372.0 mi - 13.475 gal = 27.6 MPG My best ever on a fillup that was greater than a half tank. :woot:

Not ready to fill up yet but I had to tease with the latest shot from just after the gas light came on. :D Could be a 35mpg Tank. Could make it to 700 miles if I wanted to.
