    No shit.

I really, really like that the temp gauge has freaking notches on it, wish I had some.

More than half the reason I picked up the UG, so I could know exactly what the engine (coolant) temp was.

    Great pics, keep em' coming!!

Couple good posts. Good mileage from BRT with all his mods.

I was so close to 400, gotta get over at least once before the MPG killing winter comes around.

Just tried turning the motor off while driving. Extremely simple...worked to perfection. :D

Now think about some of those times where you would normally coast a long way in neutral and........... Just Do It.

Bump start in 4th or 5th.

575 and counting, it will probably lite on the 10 mile drive home.

I just have to ask, is this possible, or even a good idea with an Auto Trans?

I have two hills near me where I can coast for 1-1.6 miles depending on traffic. So I'll give it a shot.

I wouldn't do it. You're going to have to physically crank the starter to get up and running again which is just going to cause added wear to your starter. And you would have to be a lot more careful going from Drive to Neutral, etc. Manual transmissions are designed to work this way...auto's, not so much.

    ^

Correct, this is a manual only technique for me and for most vehicles.

Unless a vehicle with an automatic specifically says it can be dinghy towed you should not coast with the motor off. The manual for tacomas say do not dinghy tow.

There are automatics that can, and there are people that shut off all the time, but I couldn't see doing it.

So the light came on at 575.7 and I gassed up at 579.7 with 17.758 gallons for 32.6 mpg which is reflected in my signature. Last fillup was 8/3.
