It should make a little difference. You won't lose anything by doing it. What does your air box look like?

The deck plate gave me just over 5...almost 6 on my 2,7. The 3.4 will have a little better gain. Yep. When I removed the silencers, it dropped to about a 2 to 3 hp gain

I've been interested in doing the deck plate mod and removing the secondary air filter. I have a 2001, where did you find the secondary filter at? I feel like a straight rah-tard for not being able to find it.

The guy that did the dyno testing of the deck plate mod said he would just remove the elbow if he did it again since it almost gave the same increase in power and it is easily put back if need be to restore the Taco to original condition.

all you need is a deck plate, sensor safe silicone, and a dremel or something to cut out the hole

My 03 2.4 2wd truck was done a year ago,
    I love it.
I covered the hole on my small intake muffler too, its loud though.
I put the deck plate on the IB side of the box, facing the fan.
I got everything at the local West Marine, including the stainless hardware and clamp.
Grabbed a small piece of screen from my GF's parents garage.

I have put the cover back on in the winter when its really crappy, and have had to clean the filter more often, no suprise there. I get alot more pedal when i have the cover off, it gets up and goes better, theres no way i am going to "Dyno" it to find out how much, but it gets out of its own way better.
