    Fillup yesterday was 19.63 that was mostly city but included 60 miles of towing the boat to and from the ramps.

    Have a 07 tacoma access cab prerunner 2.7l with 27000 miles.
    was averaging 22-23 stock. Now w/ afe dry filter, exhaust and 3" lift w/ after market rims
    average about 20

    Looking to buy 2.7L 09 or 10 tacoma depending if there is any 09 left 4x2 regular cab

    EPA is rated at 19/25 which is lower than other years (I know its lowered because of new testing procedures) but what should be realistic expectations for this truck?

    i get around 20-23 in the city depending how i drive and anywhere between 25-27 normally on the highway. i have on occasion been able to hit around 29 mpg. that's rare though

    As well, peak mileage in the 4 cyl occurs somewhere around 45mph. Peak Efficiency comes down to how much you value your time.... But I have found that every 5 mph is worth around.....


    SCANGAUGE II - All numbers are observed on flat roads, slight breeze, so you might do a little better, scangauge completly calibrated....

    I'm getting 18.6 mpg highway... It really sucks cause I drive to work 60 miles one way. I don't know whats wrong. I have 150000 miles and drive no more than 75mph.

    Well you're getting about what you should, maybe a little low, but you're driving a box.....If you really care that much, try slowing down. I don't find that accelerating quickly makes much of a differance overall, but the cruising speed, and how much you use the brakes make a huge differance

    03 Prerunner xtracab 2.7 auto with 265/70/16 - last tank highway was 23.5 mpg. It will do better but I was running 75.

    '09 Reg Cab 2WD 5-speed - bone stock with about 5K miles on it. Just got my best tank yet: 26.2 MPG in mixed driving. That was driving with a very light foot and short-shifting (at about 2000 RPM) for the entire tank. When I drive "normally" it's usually somewhere between 24 and 25.

    I also find that within reason, acceleration doesn't make much difference. But what do you mean by using the brakes does? How does that save gas? Unless using the brakes a lot is indicative of a more aggressive driving style.
    I do find that coasting in gear, instead of rushing to a stop light and using the brakes , does help my mileage. Remember, injectors shut off when coasting in gear.

    The best and safest way to hypermile is to drive like your brakes are not working, within reason(stop at all stop signs and right on red).

    Ummm. I was saying what you are saying....coasting in gear as opposed to breaking helps mileage...........

    installed the scanguage II and when doin about 45 i get 25 or 26ish mpg and when i go up to 55-60ish i get close to 30mpg.

    I have an 08 reg cab with the automatic. I have a tool box and deadened the entire cab ceiling, floor, back wall, doors and I added sound foam which weighs a lot I've got about 50 pounds alone with the foam. Anyways I've added a lot of weight and I drive about 75 on the interstate. I do about 60% highway 40% city and I just got 24.5 mpg pretty good by my standards
