Recently, I have been having some intermittent problems with my transmission not shifting out of park and going into gear. I do not know why, but it has only done it a few times. As soon as i start up the enging, i put my foot on the brake, and move over the selector to try and get it out of park, it wont budge. I have to turn off the truck and try it again and then it usually goes into drive. Could this be a sensor problem that my truck is having? any thoughts here?

I'm not sure how it works on the auto Tacoma's, but my parents Explorer had this problem before. It was the brake shift interlock cable that became disconnected/loose somehow. There was a small override switch on the underside of the column that was big enough for a small flat head screwdriver to fit in.
