Does anyone know the amperage for a 2.7l stock alternator? Would a V6 towing alternator be a plug and play option?

I am looking to add fog lights, a stereo with back up camera (no amplifiers nor speakers), and MAYBE a 10" LED bar.

Just for that little bit you shouldn't need a larger alternator.

Yea you shouldn't need a larger alternator for what you have listed. I am curious if the tow package would work on a 2.7L, for other reasons so if anyone has info on that that would be great.

I believe the 2.7 is an 80 amp ... 4.0 TRD Off Road w/tow package comes in about 130 amps ... but as others say you should be good to go.

You won't need a bigger alternator for that small load. FYI my truck has the 60 amp alternator and I have a winch, stereo, ARB compressor and Airlocker, projectors, and 3 high amperage off road lights and my truck still survives (although I have a nice big AGM battery).

Your alt is 80 amp rated. The V6 alt is not a plug in play. The 2.7 alt has a decoupler pulley (ADP) and the housing is different (pics appear to show different electrical connections also). BTW, the ADP pulley should be serviced every 100k miles; you may not find that info in your manual - it wasn't in my wife's ES350 manual. Her car has an ADP pulley and froze around 130K, frying the innards. Check out the BNR parts store on ebay. They remanufacture alternators with high amp models. I don't see one for the 2.7 at the moment but they do pop up. Call them; you may be able to send them yours. They currently have a ADP alt for a 2008 2.4 RAV4, 200 amp, for $210; one for your truck should be along the same amp rating and pricing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Rav4-Alternator-2-4L-High-200-Amp-NEW-Generator-/252203277805

Incidentally, their 200 amp model for 4.0 engine is $195 and $215 for the 250 amp model. I'm undecided which to get. Shipping is free and it's the same alts used by a TW vendor but for significantly less $$.
