I have recently aquired a 1998 4 cylinder single cab 4x4...its a 5 speed 2.7. I have a low rpm power loss.anywhere under 25-3000 rpms the truck is a little sluggish and has a very very faint hesitation. I understand that you can not expect much power from a 4 cylinder...but this truck should not have this problem...the plugs and wires are new, replaced with factory parts..fuel filter is clean, fresh oil change, all fluids are new and at the correct level...the truck runs fine otherwise while cruising at any speed or above 3000 accelerating..I was wondering if anyone is aware of any TSB's this year truck may have had...the previous owners were older and may not have been aware of any recalls or bulletins posted..any info much appreciated in advance!

i dont think they are any active tsb's for the older 1st gens..

how many miles on your truck?

Clean your throttle body and clean the MAF and see if that helps. At 175k my throttle body looked like the inside of a coal mine...

    hmmm...

My truck had a slight hesitation with a cracked exhaust manifold, take it look at it.

Also try some seafoam through the gas tank and intake vacuum line.
