I was thinking of buying these wrenches to leave in the Tacoma for general use:

Is anybody familiar with these or similar designs? If I just needed something simple to change oil, change battery connectors, etc. would these be recommended over a real ratchet set?

I guess I am just worried how much torque I could apply to these before they break.

I’m not a fan of flat, stamped metal ratcheting wrenches.

Forged, reversible, 15° bent combination ratcheting wrenches are my preference — by far.

There are lots of suppliers of that kind at all price points. My old Craftsman dull-polish Industrial and current FACOM/Craftsman V-series are my favorites, but truly, they aren’t much different. Gearwrench is widely available and pretty well respected.

Unless space is at a premium, I'd go with a cheap(ish) set of flex-head wrenches.
    Make life much easier.

i don't particularly like using only 12 point anything for constant maintenance. they tend to round off the corners on many fasteners.

i would much prefer a real socket set for everything you specified you'd use it for. though i specifically use hf's composite ratchets for battery work to minimize the possibility of sparks. something like this would likely suit most of your needs can even get this one if the pass-through option is really critical to you
