I'm running about 2.25" lift with no cab mount chop and 33's. Lift doesn't equal clearance.

So I should be fine with a 2.5 lift and 285/70/17

Every truck is different and every lift is different. Try and cross your :fingerscrossed:... You may clear or might not...

A lot depends on the dimensions of the wheel you're using and if you get aftermarket UCAs that you can push your castor forward with. I have SPC UCAs and had the alignment shop push my tires as far forward as they can to avoid rubbing on the cab mount.

The only rubbing I get is at full lock in reverse against the mud flap. If I take the mud flap off I will have zero rubbing.

285/70/17, ICON Stage II, 17x9 Fuel Ripper rims with -12 offset, no CMC or trimming. The only rubbing I had was in the front of the fender liners in two small areas...after 5 minutes or so with a heat gun, big screwdriver handle, and a spray bottle of cold water, the rubbing is no more.

Well this thread is killing me. I tried to get info on the Ruff Country 4" lift over on TN and didn't get any feedback, and ended up putting it in. 4" lift with spacers and SPC upper control arms up front, and a combination of a short block and AAL in the back (with diff drop). Then put some 33" Pro Comp tires on. Sure, it looks great, but you folks have got me seriously worried about long term consequences. I would say I do "light to medium" off-roading. Only had it on about 2 weeks, and I'm getting some moderate vibration in the 15-25 mph range on city streets. :frusty::facepalm::pout:

Edit: I was hurried in my decision, and for no real good reason...

Vibration .. It common you're not the only one, just do some search almost everyone have some source of vibration, and solution. I totally forget... If you're going for a 4"... Should have go with RCD 4-5" lift.... RCD, you don't have to get a UCA right away because it a DB. So total almost the same.

The vibe is probably from the needle bearing on the front drivers side. To verify if that is the problem, find a straight section of road and shift into 4hi. If the vibes go away in 4hi, then the needle bearing is the problem. The solution to that is replacing the needle bearing with the ECGS bushing. Search ECGS on TW and you will find a lot of information on this.

Okay, so I just realized there are two similar sounding brands, Rough Country and Tuff Country (I don't have much familiarity with either and confused them). I believe the OP's question was about the Rough Country. What I put on my truck in the Tuff Country. Is that better? Removing/swapping the lift to under 3" would be costly (would require also swapping tires). I hope this isn't thread jacking; seems possibly pertinent to the OP.

That’s kinda like asking goneria or syphilis !
They both have a lot of problems!

Cut your losses and get bilstien 5100 all around and OME coils ...a few options on those. Camburg/ totalchaos UCA’s and Dakar’s in rear. Or just 3leaf AAL you will be happy and it’s the best bang for your buck on a budget .

Did you measure before and after from center of front hub to bottom of front fender? I’d be really surprised if you actually got 4 inches of lift and your ride would be absolutely horrible.

Fox/king are at top, it’s subjective as to who’s saying it . I like to think my Fox DSC are the best. But then again they’re mine :).
Icon are great in my opinion, I have them under one of my Jeeps .
