4Runner or Minivan?

Poll closed May 14, 2011.
  1. 4Runner! You'll be happier, know how to wrench, and it's got roof racks for strollers!

  2. Suck it up pansy! Minivan would be more practical, you did the deed, time to pay up!

I don't have kids but still voted minivan. Sucks but your gonna have to take one for the team. Also modivation to wrap it up from here on out! Hopefully when the mini is paid off and your settled at your new job, you can get a new truck. And think of all the bells and whistles they will have on them then. Good luck.

LOL. Just kidding, but seriously... Best be looking for something a bit larger. A forerunner just ain't gonna haul all those kids + wife + all the junk they gotta have to go anyplace. SUV- at least 7 passenger, or heaven forbid, a mini-van. Don't think your gonna be happy with that though.
Might wanna try moving some place warm and humid too. that way you'll be to hot and sweaty to do this again.

I'm not sure why there is even a question here. You have two
vehicles already. Put 3 in the one and the extra in your wife's car. You keep the truck! This is what happenes when guys let the wife out of the kitchen! J/K! Anyway, congrats on the 4th! And I chose the 4 runner, but my wife hates mini-vans too, no matter how practical. I'd rather have a full size custom van! Maybe just get a small RV! G/L either way.

Well said. For the price and practicality of it you can't beat a minivan. You can get into a new Sienna for $25k. You can't do that with a 4Runner unless you do some serious haggling. I would go with the minivan. Not only is it the practical choice but it is the responsible choice.

I just retired in C Springs and my wife and I are seriously considering moving to WA too. No income tax. If I can help you and your family while you're in CO, let me know.

Where in WA? That could change the discussion on which vehicle to buy.

+1 Good luck finding room for strollers and diaper bags when all six of you are in a 4Runner. Trust me, I've been there!

I think you are overlooking the obvious, trade one of the kids in on a new truck! Just kidding, I'd go with the Sienna. I've rented them a few times and they are awesome for getting kids in and out and the whole car seat thing is much easier with the seat and floor height than a 4 Runner. The 4 Runner is cool but you will kill your back lifting kids in and out of one of those. I'm not a fan of Mini Vans but the Sienna really well set up for what it is. Good luck with whatever choice you make and I know the wife will win ;)

It's not new, it's not Mexico
I have three sons, all grown men now, but for years I was stuck in a Chevy Malibu wagon. Now i have four grandchildren, so I bought my wife a Kia Rondo with the third seat. It ain't much to look at but it totes all the grandkids and gets good gas mileage. I thought my station wagon/mini van days were over but I was wrong. So try to keep your truck if possible and resign yourself to soccer mom transport for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!
    Oh and congratulations Dad!

I voted the 4Runner because they have a pretty decent backseat and still have room for a folded up stroller behind it assuming you don't have pounds of diapers to fit as well.

I'm also 22 years old and don't see kids in my future until I'm at least 30 so I may be biased ;)
