I'm looking at a BDS 4" kit and previously I was looking into a Bilstein suspension kit. I'm wondering if anyone has meshed the 2 kits and if there's any advice as to what I should be looking into as far as setup? I'd like to run 6112/5160 strut setup with the 4" kit. Not sure if that's possible. I think I can make it work but don't want to dish out the cash before exhausting all possible issues.

The BDS kit comes with strut spacer, thinking if I used/made shorter spacer it would work with the 6112 up front. The rear might be more difficult if I want to avoid blocks. Might need a new leaf pack. Rnish "don't do it" I guess next question would be why you think "no"? Playing around with ideas, looking for imput.

So you want to start with a drop bracket kit that cuts a chunk out of your frame.(step 21 of BDS instructions)

    Then add aftermarket shocks.

    You can do that.

    Things to know.

Your ground clearance at the axle line stays the same. Drop bracket lifts are considered by most off road folks to be 'mall friendly', ie looks only.

    Tacomas don't have struts.

The drop bracket isn't easily reversible. Not impossible, but a 9.5 out of 10 hard. So you limit your resale market. (remember step 21 above)

I think his comment is generally meant to dissuade you from going in on a DB lift since they're difficult to reverse and may not be ideal for wheel travel and general offroading

Never understood why ppl are concerned so much with resale. Like why are you already thinking about selling your truck lol if your thinking about lifting and modifying it. Thats like saying im not having intercourse with my GF to save her for the next guy lol.

*I'm* not. I could care less what he eventually does.

It's just a piece of info that is worth consideration as most tire of their toys and move on to a new adventure.

Very few keep something 'forever' like you might see on the 'Garage Squad' or other TV shows.

As a side note, it would be interesting to know what an insurance carrier would do if a truck modified like this was fairly hard hit in an owner-at-fault accident.

The bottom line is, it's his truck. He pays for it, so he can do whatever the hell he wants to it. Lift the truck 18 inches if it'll make you happy, and can do it.

Best the best & tallest Maller-Crawler you can be!
