No dealer uses Nada for their pricing, atleast in my area. Most use Black book. Which is a lot lower then KBB. Obviously they want to make money and getting your trade for as little as possible is the key. If you guys think your gonna get 35k for your newer Tacoma your crazy. Go to a dealership and just have them appraise your vehicle and see what they would give you on a trade.

Agreed. I seem to be a more calm person the less time I'm here.

Ouch, the insults, they hurt...lmao. I'm not a young kid, and actually have experience in the finance field. I have experience selling my own personal vehicles private sale, both with and without liens, and in my experience, I only have sold for NADA value, or very close to it. I would not expect Retail from a dealer. On trade in, I'd expect about what the OP stated, ~$33,500, and hopefully more, hence the "$1,000" profit. I refuse to sell anything at a loss, especially when I'm not leveraged to do so. If you don't agree with me, fine, but it's my personal experience, and that's all it is. Typical, or realistic for everyone, no, but it has been for me.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Also Tundras don't come nearly as loaded as F150s do for the same price. So yea, Tundra in the future. I have to prepare for a marriage. Buuuut we want a comfortable vehicle.

Congrats on getting married, and good luck on the vehicle hunt. As others have suggested, sell it outright. At the very least, you'll do better than trade, plus, you'll have more leverage with cash and/or financing in hand than if you have to go in with a trade.

I would rather have less features and quality than more features that tend to brake, specially from FixOrRepairDaily brand:D. But I do like new fords except they are overpriced most of the time. :hattip:

Honestly OP if you must unload your truck I would consider taking that trade in deal here's why. They offered you $33k for trade, your truck new currently (and its now a leftover since 17s are out) is $38-39k MSRP, most people will negotiate $1500-2500 off that in rebates/dealing/etc. so $36-37k. If you were to sell your truck private party your price would likely be within $1-3k from what most people can get it for new, which is a hard thing to do and only making 1-3k more than what the dealer offered you. Most states when you purchase a new vehicle and trade in an old you receive a tax credit so you only pay tax on the difference, thus saving there trading it in as opposed to selling private party and then buying without a trade. Selling a tacoma 1-2 years old is tough, they hold their value so well its hard to justify buyers not buying new.

Yes, and 'seems' is the key work for #1. There are actually logical explanations for that, because the demographics are changing in the ownership profile.

Yes for #2. Too many vote for a living nowadays.

Serious question. Are you upside down on your loan?

If so, tough it out with the tacoma for at least 2 years til you build equity.

Agree, was about to negotiate the price on a 2016 Ecoboost, but then heard about an engine wiring harness going to hell on my uncle's 2014 ecoboost and got flashbacks to my electrical/engine problems on my 2005 Legacy GT. I'm very happy with my Taco :burnrubber:

My dad's 2014 raptor and mom's 2013 explorer have both had less issues than my 2016 Tacoma, just saying. Maybe FORD of old, but not of new, they were top 3 in quality last handful of years.

That's a good point. I know that where I'm from, you can claim the tax credit no matter what (sell it or trade it, it doesn't matter), but that might not be the case where you live. Check you local DMV and tax laws.

now THIS is something I wish CA can get..

Each time a car gets sold, CA wants their tax cut. No matter how it happens, private party, trade in, dealer, etc..

LOL Hell... I used to get 19.1mpg on my V6 DCLB when it was bone stock. Now I get 15-15.5 when I drive it well.
Bumpers, Skids, 33's, Lift, winch, sliders, 4.56 gears... bye bye MPGs. lol
