Going up very wet and sloppy trail pulling small trailer with a 4 wheeler. Truck is loaded full also. Put in 4 high first, then to 4 low before going up incline. Started hearing a clicking sound like anti slip was trying to keep wheels from spinning. As I pushed on pedal to go , it wouldn’t. Had to back down and put into 4 high and hammer up. Did fine in 4 high. Is there something that will not let you spin in 4 low? It just wouldn’t go, no matter how much I pushed down on accelerator!

Once you put it in 4-H and the light is steady, then you need to come to a complete STOP, move gear selector to N (Neutral) then push in on 4-L and turn knob to 4-LOW. 4-H light will go away and it will show 4-LO as well as turning traction control OFF.

Dont think 4lo will allow wheels to spin?

It was in 4 low, and traction control or something just completely bogged it down.

Yes, that is question. Does this truck not allow wheel spin in 4 low? Because I have used it a few times, but in nothing like what I was in this past weekend. We have had a lot of rain here over the last couple of weeks. Went down to my camp/cabin for weekend and was just very disappointed with my truck in 4low

Is this your 2017 Sport? The TRAC OFF light should illuminate in the gauge cluster by default in 4low, allowing for wheelspin. Make sure your parking brake is disengaged - the warning light is easy to miss because the gauge cluster lights up like a Christmas tree in 4low.

Was this a clicking sound from the passenger side firewall area typical of ABS pump operation, or a loud clicking from the transfer case area typical of chain skipping teeth?

It is my truck, was a clicking sound like gears are clutching out. Sound was strange to me, this is the newest vehicle I have ever owned. Just wasn’t sure why it lost all power. Would not go forward. Once it sensed slipping, just crapped out

Sounds like a traction control issue to me..? I know 2nd gens have many different modes. You have to manually turn it all off to get full power to the wheels

^This, when I go into 4lo all of my traction aids shut off automatically. Sounds suspect of something else at play here.

Are you sure you were in 4 lo based on engine RPM and noise?
I ask, because some here seem to have a problem figuring this out, and assume since the knob is in 4 lo, that the transfer case is. OP not saying this is you,,, just that some have assumed. It takes a second to get in 4 lo, but sounds like you are doing it right- switching before the steep incline.
