The install process for the tailgate is similar to the door cup guards.

Highly recommended that you have an extra set of hands to make the process go by quicker.

Please make sure the surface is clean before application and keep it both the film and surface area wet until you are sure of placement prior to edging out the remaining soapy solution. **Keeping it moist helps with positioning the film in place**

Once the film is where you want it, start squeezing/edging the soapy solution.

 

Pretty interested in buying some, but would like to know a few things first. Not too knowledgeable on clear bras, but I have seen some turn "yellow" after quite some time. So..

1. Are these the kind that turn yellow after a certain amount of time?
2. Should I change them every year to prevent damage to the paint or it turning "yellow"?
2. How is the process of removing these after you had them on for a year or two? Will it stick to the paint permanently/when taking it off cause potential damage to paint?

Installed mine over the weekend. Tailgate piece was more challenging than expected with the curve. Granted I had to use a credit card ILO a bondo squeegee. Great product other than that. Had experience before little with vinyl on top of my 350Z.

My truck came with this stuff already applied. Dealer added item, they called it the "Desert Protection Package" and was 499.00, pretty damn outrageous for a few stickers. Did all Tacoma's come with the protection at the front and rear of the bed as well as door edge and handles? Mine has all of these.

 

My understanding is that it depends on the dealer. Mine came with all the leading edge protection (bumper, fender, door, etc.) to help with rocks and other things thrown off the road, but it didn't come with the protection under the door handle or on the tailgate. But yes, the dealer charges an outrageous amount for it considering we generally didn't have the chance to say "no".
