    Hello,

I have a 2007 2nd Gen with the V6 and auto trans. I am looking at buying a 4th Gen 4 runner with the V6, a 2007 to be exact, to drive daily and was curious if the motor and trans are the same as my Tacoma. The only difference is my Tacoma is 4wd and the 4 runner will be a 2wd. I am hoping they are the same or similar since I already know how to work on my Tacoma in and out.

    Thanks in advance.

engine should be the same, however I believe from what ive heard the belle housing and trans a bit different. someone else who has more experience will chime in. i dont see how it would be any harder to work on, easier if anything

Thank you sir. I figure the trans will vary slightly because of 2WD vs 4WD. My Tacoma has been so reliable and I was hoping the same for the 4 runner. Thanks again.

Motors are same. Could be some minor differences in some of the bolt-on accessories, but as long as you have your old motor to scavenge from you should be okay, though you may not need any of it. As previous poster mentioned, the trannies are different. Taco is 5-speed, T4R is 4-speed.
