So I have a 2011 regular cab 4 banger and I was wondering if I could run 35's on it with out have to worry about to much gearing wise and how it would handle?

do the 2nd gen auto 2.7s come with factory 4.56 like the 1st gens do?

either way, your highway speed will end up at around 70-75 max. acceleration wasnt even that different from 33s at least in my shitty opinion. but highway speed and mpg just took a shit.

so do you have to re gear? nope. all depends on what you can tolerate lol.

on the same note, i put my worn down 33s back on though to use em up, and when it comes time to do some real trails ill put the 35s back on

I'm sure you could ride around on them yeah, but it would be hard on the engine and transmission

Would I be able to get 33s with out having to worry about much? Or would it just be slow? Would I need lockers along with the gears?

You only need lockers....if you need lockers :D You can get new gears without lockers definitely.

you could. really not the end of the world, but like i said, yes it will be slow as hell and pretty taxing on the engine on any highway that isnt flat

i think it depends on, again like i said if the 2nd gens also come with that 4.56 gear set. if so, then ive been on 33s for a while and havent re geared. but if not, i would imagine its going to be a total dog.

if you plan on doing any moderate to heavy off roaing you certainly want lockers. and its going to be better to get at least the rear locker done when you re gear. depending on the type of wheeling you want to do probably dont need a front locker.

33s will be plenty if you don't want to re gear

I ran 33" tires on stock 4.10s for about a year before I regeared to 4.88.

    I've got a stick - you've got an auto.

    I ran 33s. You want 35s.

I don't know what to tell you. Only you know your own personal tolerance for slow acceleration and transmission hunting.

Try it out. Put on your lift. Scrounge some used nearly worn out 35" tires from craigslist or a TW member. Put those on for a month or as long as you can stand it. If you like it - fine. Now you know. If you don't, you can go down to 33" or even 32" tires while you decide your next move.

I believe I saw 2.7L 5sp came with 4.30s at some point? Did the 01-04 2.7 auto come with 4.10 for the Pre/4wd/TRD or just the v6?

i guarantee you wont blow your transmission or engine, or axle from running too high of gears
k if you dont off road much and are still under warranty on a new truck i guarantee with your assessment, you dont need 35s, and i wouldnt bother re gearing and locking until you know what you want
i believe you are right. 2.7 5sp came with 4.3

2.7 autos came with the 4.56, only combination on the 1st gens to have the 4.56

The second gen 4 cylinder autos have 4.30s. Stick has 4.10s.

I've got 33s with 4.10s and it's not much worse than stock. If you had 4.30s and a stick I would say you could probably swing 35s, that said I have no idea how the auto would respond to that... Might make it angry:notsure:
